This guide will hopefully give you a good scope on the available options and the mods that have been working for me 100+ hours in Single Player on Ark: Survival Evolved. This guide will go over: 1. Foreword I have not seen a guide on getting proper solo setup in ARK and spent countless hours searching for that sweet spot, and I think I found it. Well kind of. Its taken me a while to compile this info. Game Mode There is a significant change to vanilla but base game play is not diminished by them. Some of the mods give the player significant boon and bane, especially early game. The world will be just as deadly but actually doable in SP. I am not sure its possible to get a perfect mode without removing the level system all together. So there will be discrepancies in difficulty. You will probably want to adjust a bunch of these settings to get it where you want. Especially the player ramp, but think of your player like a tiered item as well i guess... The game mode I have setup enables the player to survive in several different ways depending on play styles. You can pack light and setup camps as you move across the arks. Tame dinos along the way, but there wont be many, its fairly quiet and docile till a Spino finds you with your guard down. Keep your eyes peeled out for other survivors too, none are too friendly and some are very hungry. Of course the other option is to build up a fancy base, slap turrets every where, get your dinos maxed out and murder all things. Its ARK.... You got options here... Modifications Some of these modifications are done by editing the Game.INI / GameUserSettings.INI or by subscribing through Steam Workshop. I found the ramp on reddit and didn't want to spend literal hours (figuring out how to use excel or do it manually) to rewrite the level ramp override for this. But TBH it feels alright. The main purpose of this for me was a continued incentive to level up, you wont be OP till level 500ish and it will take you maybe a couple days or a week with the settings as is, but gives a continued "endgame" for the survivor. The idea for me was a "tier" player system, each "tier" levels the same exponent. Every 100 levels would be comparable to item tiers, Primitive 1-100, Ascendant 901-999. XP requirement for 1000 is just stupid high... As is, you will level up every 250 XP till level 100. Starting at level 101 there's a large XP hurdle every 100 levels. Spend your engrams wisely or edit the INI. Spend your stat points wisely. Level Ramp Eg. But if you want to make changes its in the Game.INI portion of this guide. Upgrade Station - To be fair this might be my favorite one. While at first leveling a spear to Ascendant might seem OP alas you will still have trouble with higher tiers. Depending on how you look at it, this either balances the game or its a cheat. For me, it made things more tolerable, less grindy and gave me a reason to use certain attire for thermal qualities / perks / armor rating while being able to survive -some- harsh encounters. Inventory Cleaner - Its included with S+ which i think has ARK integration now, i dont use S+ and not sure if it will conflict with Dephenistrators, just an FYI. Max Dino Level 2520 - Its a self explanatory mod... Immersive Taming - A mod that allows you to craft throwable bait bags and hoopla for easier and, well, more immersive taming. It comes with an in game UI you can use to alter its functions, make taming easier/harder, do you need to best it in battle before tame? Riderless XP - This mod shares XP gains with surrounding tames. Excellent. Game.INI Part 1 Steam will only allow so many characters in each chapter of this guide . Just a little more to go lol. Now we have our mods and are in the ARK we can get some other settings out of the way before we start. We can alter how the Immersive Taming mod operates. I personally like it a little more difficult. With base settings of this mod you can just toss bait out and bam you got tames. As an option if your like me, you can open the Admin UI for the mod and alter how the baits work. I ramp up production on SparkPowder, Cementing Paste, Ect.
