D.R.O.N.E.S. is a run based, action autobattler, deckbuilder/fighter where monsters are dealt from an enemy deck and every decision shapes the fate of a collapsing solar system. You choose which threats to confront, when to engage, and how much risk to take before the fight even begins. Each encounter deals a hand of enemy and trap cards. Discard enemies, re-order your drones, apply enemy modifiers, then engage and let your drones handle the rest. Combat plays out automatically as enemies attach your drone and your drones defend themselves. Between waves, you unlock and purchase a wide range of drones, munitions, hacks, modulators, and components, creating wildly different builds from run to run. Drone and item variance is high, so new synergies constantly emerge, and playing with unfamiliar combos is a core part of the reward loop. Enemy forces spread from planet to planet until they've "compromised" each celestial. After several encounters, powerful bosses appear leaving you one turn to save the planet before it's lost. Fail to plan for boss fights, and your contract is likely to end early. Every run is seeded with today’s date, meaning players around the world experience the same system layout, enemy order, and opportunities on a given day.
