The two game modes are clickable (screenshot shows All-Pick selected and Draft-Pick not selected) and both can be selected at once. Below are two checkboxes that will modify match making: "Precise Match", if checked, will require matching against an opponent with a closer ranking. This results in longer queue times. "Simulated Rival", if checked, allows matching against computer bots instead of exclusively real people. Unchecking this increases queue times. If "All-Pick" is selected, "Start Matching" will take you to the party selection screen. If only "Draft Pick" is selected, the button will instead immediately begin matchmaking. Matchmaking won't begin for All-Pick until you click the challenge button on the party selection screen. Team selection can also changed by clicking on "Teams" on the left side of the main Traphase menu. On this page, clicking on a character portrait, Wheel icon, or Posse icon will let you change your loadout. While viewing characters, you can demo the awakener in a trial battle against harmless enemies. In this trial you will always draw the character's full kit each turn and can freely add posse or wheels. Every awakener plays completely differently in Traphase, so it is recommended to experiment. The trials can also be reached from clicking "Collections" on the main Traphase screen. Time limitThe game is divided into rounds with each player performing their actions only during their round. These rounds are limited to about 80 seconds. At 20 seconds remaining, a timer will appear on the screen; if this expires, the turn will end immediately and transfer control to the other player. In general the time limit is enough to perform all of your actions as long as you have a general idea of what to do. It unfortunately doesn't give enough time for a new player to read everything and think about unfamiliar cards. This is another reason to check out the awakener trials. You can also freely read your in-hand cards during your opponent's phase. Games against bots are still time-limited. Before battle AwakenersThe awakeners available in Traphase are the same awakeners you have available in regular gameplay. There are still many differences. SkillsAn awakenener's skills in Traphase are completely different. The deck for all awakeners is 3 unique skill cards (one of each) and two copies of strike. The card effects frequently have nothing to do with their maingame skills, but typically awakeners will still have the same basic archetype. Ogier is still a tank, for example. There are no str/con/def stats. Instead, every skill has a fixed damage value or shield value. The actual damage done may differ due to status effects, but it is otherwise fixed. The default Strike card, in particular, will always do exactly 10 damage and always grant 20 aliemus, whether used by Goliath or Celeste. Skills are periodically rebalanced between seasons, potentially changing the skill effects and damage values. Be sure to check the Traphase section of patch notes just in case your favorite awakener was redesigned. RouseThere is no rouse equivalent in Traphase. RealmAwakener Realms do not exist in Traphase. You can freely pick a team from all four realms if you like, and this will have no gameplay impact. Your team composition is instead limited by role - you can't bring 4 DPSes. Enlightenment and levelsEnlightenment (i.e. the number of dupes of a character) and the awakener's level have no impact in Traphase. A level 1 Ramona at E0 is the same as a level 90 E12 Ramona. All that matters is if a character is unlocked or not. This makes Traphase significantly less P2W than it would be otherwise. An account's age or money spent mostly does not matter. It still gives veteran/spender players more options but not more power. There's no guarantee that limited awakeners are better than standard. Wheels of DestinyWheels work completely differently in Traphase. Before matchmaking starts, you select four wheels to include. Unlike in the regular game, wheels are added to your deck as cards. These cards will have a arithmetica cost and have no affect until they are equipped by paying this cost. All wheels can only be used once. They cannot be unequipped. They can be lost by either using a new wheel or on the awakener's death. In both cases the wheel is destroyed and lost for the entire battle. EffectsWheels have completely different effects in Traphase. Wheels can be viewed in the "Collections" to view their description and can be freely added to your character in the Awakener Trial to test their effects. UnlockingLike awakeners, the available wheels are the ones you have acquired for the main game. Stacking wheels has no effect: the wheel is either unlocked or isn't. PossePosses work completely differently in Traphase. Before matchmaking starts, you select two of the unlocked posse to use. These will be added to your deck as cards. They cannot be used at any time, and there is no keyflare. These cards always have no cost and can only be used once, and then are removed from the deck. EffectsAs with wheels, all posses have different effects or values. They can be viewed in Collections or tested in the Trial. UnlockingLike awakeners, the available posse are the ones you have acquired for the main game. Team setup All-Pick vs Draft-PickThe setup before the match starts is the primary difference between the two modes. The final outcome is the same: you will go into the match with a team consisting of 4 awakeners, 4 wheels, and 2 posse. All-Pick mode has you build a team using the awakeners, wheels, and posses you have unlocked. Draft-Pick has no restrictions on what will be offered. You can also unlock all of Traphase (all awakeners, all posses, all wheels) by purchasing the more-expensive of the two premium battle pass upgrades. This lasts for the duration of the battle pass.
