It has a branching path when it comes to upgrading it, so you will have to pick one specialization over the other when upgrading it. The upgrades for it are as follows; Required Items to craft: 2 Carbon Plating 2 Anteverse Gel 4 Metal Pipe 8 Metal Scrap The Upgrade branches into two different paths, the Field Sample Pack, and the Cold Storage Pack One can be achieved faster/earlier than the other. We'll begin with the earlier upgrade. Field Sample Pack 1 Hazard Crate 2 Carbon Plating 1 Hazardous Materials Suit 4 Magnetic Alloy The Cold Storage Pack is only achievable after reaching Voussoir/Hydroplant Cold Storage Pack 1 Air Compressor 2 Yeti Fur 4 Transformer Bushing 8 Murkweed Void Pack The Void Pack is the next step up above the Research Pack, that once you find the recipe for, will become likely your next choice in terms of backpacks. It unfortunately has one upgrade only but does end up utilizing that upgrade to combine all the various forms of storage into your backpack. The upgrade for it is as follows; Required Items to craft: 1 Laser Prism 2 Carbon Plating 2 Transformer Bushing 1 Hyper-Dense Neural Chip The 2nd Tier upgrade for this backpack and the required items are as follows; Glitch Pack 3 Digital Gold 1 Transcendium 1 Portal Fish 1 Raw Exor Heart Hardlight Shield Generator A relatively late-game trinket, one of the last you'll get if you're getting close to the content introduced in 1.0, the Hardlight Shield Generator acts as a frankly mediocre shield trinket similar to that which most if not all of the gatekeepers utilize. The shield will absorb damage received until it is depleted. The damage it absorbs is not reduced by the armor the player is wearing. The shield HP will passively regenerate after a short period of not taking damage, or a longer period if the entire shield is depleted. The required items are as follows: Required Items to craft: 1 Defunct Shield Generator 4 Arcane Scrap 1 Embellished Censer 2 Lodestone FragmentShield HP: 150 Shield Recharge: 10/s Recharge Delay: 7s Depletion Delay: 15s The 2nd Tier upgrade for this trinket which all four of the relevant stats for the shield. The required items are as follows: Zip Shield 1 Lodestone 1 Thermocell 1 Frozen EssenceShield HP: 200 Shield Recharge: 30/s Recharge Delay: 4s Depletion Delay: 9s Kylie Kylie is a very handy mid to late game trinket and a personal favourite of mine considering the effects of it, it gives a slight experience gain to every skill while worn, and also acts as a vocal companion during your adventures. She will also warn you when the Leyak or the new Residence Sector's IS, the Krasue is near and stalking you, which can be helpful for those who don't hear the gentle dulcet tones that either give off when stalking their prey. While as of the 1.0 update there is an achievement for taking Kylie to the end, I'm not sure if her upgrade counts towards that, as my testing with my group has shown that despite all of us having one of the two types of this trinket equipped, it appears that the achievement wont proc.* Keep that in mind when you consider upgrading Kylie to her (frankly much better usage in lategame) Shield Upgrade. The upgrade for her is as follows; Required Items to craft: 4 Resevoir Growth 8 Circuit Board 1 Reinforced CPU 1 SensorEquip effect: +10% XP *You will need to bring the crafted Hyper-Dense Neural Chip to a secret area in Hydroplant so you can transfer Kylie's consciousness to the chip, giving you the trinket in question. The 2nd Tier upgrade for Kylie is a Shield Generator, which works identically to the Hardlight Shield Generator, except with twice as much shield HP. The required items are as follows: Kylie (Shield Generator) 1 Hardlight Shield Generator 3 Frozen Essence 1 Heart of Corruption GATE Defense RuneShield HP: 300 Shield Recharge: 10/s Recharge Delay: 7s Depletion Delay: 15s *The shield trinket can still be used to get the achievement for bringing Kylie to the end of the game via her new form in Residence's Biolabs. Shields Heater Shield The Heater Shield is one of the earliest shields you can make for yourself, and while I personally never dabbled too much in the shields as they felt extraneous when most of the later game weaponry was two handed, this one seems to be useful for those choosing the one handed weapons and guns. Required Items to craft: 1 Heater 1 Energy Brick 2 Box of Screws 1 Reinforced Hose The 2nd Tier upgrade for this shield and the required items are as follows; Lodestone Shield 1 Lodestone Fragment 1 Reinforced Hose 2 Powdered Crystal 1 Refined Carbon The 3rd Tier upgrade for this shield and the required items are as follows; Plasmatic Shield 1 Flickering Eye 2 Arcane Scrap 1 Transcendium Charge Shield The Charge Shield is the next step up of shields you can make for yourself, this one being a very useful upgrade considering the passive of it, allowing you to deliver a shock to any attackers you block the attack of. Required Items to craft: 4 Military Electronics 1 Power Cell 4 Capacitor 1 Projection MatrixMax Battery: 100 The 2nd Tier upgrade for this shield and the required items are as follows; Clamp Shield 1 Frozen Essence 2 Tactical ScrapMax Battery: 100 Weapons (Melee and Science Ranged) Makeshift Crossbow With an upgrade newly added in 1.1, this early game ranged science weapon is a competitor to it's traditionally styled ranged science brothers (the pipe pistol and scrapshot) finally having a minor upgrade of it's own, for whatever it's worth. It's upgrade and required materials are as follows; Required Items to craft: 1 Desk Leg 3 Rubber Band Ball 2 Plastic Scrap 1 StaplerBase Damage: 26 Ammo: 1 The 2nd Tier upgrade for this weapon and the required items are as follows; Industrial Crossbow 1 Reinforced Wooden Plank 2 Rebar 1 Steel Cable 2 Glass ScrapBase Damage: 32 Ammo: 1 *has a 2x scope attachment Pipe Pistol One of the earliest ranged weapons the player can craft (that isn't a thrown weapon) and use. The humble Pipe Pistol, has unfortunately only one upgrade, however it is relatively cheap, for those interested in keeping their beloved pipe pistol even through mid-game. It's upgrade and required materials are as follows; Required Items to craft: 2 Coil 1 Power Cell 2 Stapler 1 Metal PipeBase Damage: 50 Ammo: 1 The 2nd Tier upgrade for this weapon and the required items are as follows; Lode Pistol 1 Lodestone Fragment 1 Sensor 2 Magnetic Alloy 1 Power CellBase Damage: 75 Ammo: 4 *Fires Holy Type damage Scrapshot The Scrapshot is a side option for those interested, to the Pipe Pistol, offering more spread and shots with less base damage as a drawback. Good for those wishing to get closer for their shots. The required items to craft it and it's upgrades are as follows; Required Items to craft: 2 Coil 1 Power Cell 2 RebarBase Damage: 12 Ammo: 1 The 2nd Tier upgrade for this weapon and the required items are as follows; Scrapshot FL 1 Flashlight 4 Box of Screws 3 Metal ScrapBase Damage: 12 Ammo: 1 The 3rd Tier upgrade for this weapon and the required items are as follows; Shredshot 1 HydroPipe 1 Sensor 4 Magnetic Alloy 1 Power CellBase Damage: 22 Ammo: 3 Max Battery: 500 Welding Spear The Welding Spear is arguably one of the most useful early game spears, allowing you to wield the power of fire once you've gotten to Manufacturing, the Welding Spear is a light sharp weapon with an upgrade only accessible once you've conquered Manufacturing and Labs. The requirements for it and it's upgrade are as follows; Required Items to craft: 2 Rebar 2 Reinforced Hose 2 Coil 1 Energy BrickBase Damage: 18 Max Battery: 150 The 2nd Tier upgrade for this weapon and the required items are as follows; Lodespear 1 Lodestone Fragment 1 Magnetic Alloy 2 Rebar 1 Night EssenceBase Damage: 25 Max Battery: 200 Thermal Mallet The Thermal Mallet is the blunt melee counterpart to the Welding Spear, utilizing the same general elemental advantage but in a blunt melee edition. The requirements for it and it's upgrade are as follows; Required Items to craft: 1 Rebar 2 Box of Screws 2 Coil 1 Energy BrickBase Damage: 20 Max Battery: 100 The 2nd Tier upgrade for this weapon and the required items are as follows; Lodehammer 1 Lodestone Fragment 1 Magnetic Alloy 4 Coil 1 Night EssenceBase Damage: 30 Max Battery: 150 Grinder The Grinder is an interesting weapon, one I never really found much good use in as the projectiles themselves shot from it can bounce back and hit the player if hitting a wall and ricocheting just right. Though for those interested in using it, the required items for it, and it's upgrades are as follows; Required Items to craft: 1 Air Compressor 1 Computation Brick 2 Reinforced HoseBase Damage: 45 Ammo: 10 The 2nd Tier upgrade for this weapon and the required items are as follows; Thresher 2 Hydro Pipe 4 Reservoir Growth 2 Transformer Bushing 1 Reinforced CPUBase Damage: 60 Ammo: 10 *Quite Surprisingly, unlike a later "weapon" to be talked about, the Grinder's stationary Disk Turret structure doesn't have an upgraded version to go with it's Thresher upgrade. Tech Sceptre The Tech Sceptre, one of the last two light blunt weapons the game will offer the player, only obtainable during the excursion to Labs, this weapon offers the power of electricity, and has one upgrade to it currently. The required materials for it, and the upgrade, are as follows; Required Items to craft: 2 Rebar 1 Quantum Glass 4 Refined Carbon 1 Energy BrickBase Damage: 18 Max Battery: 90 The 2nd Tier upgrade for this weapon and the required items are as follows; Ramrod 1 Tarasque Ichor 1 Transuranic Superalloy 4 Arcane Scrap 2 CapacitorBase Damage: 44 Max Battery: 130 Lightning Spear The Lightning Spear, is the sharp melee counterpart to the Tech Sceptre, while it has stronger damage, it's upgrade does not give it the same leg up over the Tech Sceptre. Magbow The definitive Half Life inspired crossbow, first available once reaching the Security Sector, this crossbow is quite the powerhouse, despite it's low ammo count compared to other ranged weapons, it only gets better with it's upgraded version, combined with using high power ammo or ammo that utilizes an enemy's weakness. Security Baton Many thanks to user Buwaro Elexion for bringing this one to my attention! The Security Baton or just the Baton, is a weapon that I actually almost had some trouble finding when working on the guide, it does not spawn in gate crates, and as far as I can tell (correct me if I'm wrong!) does not respawn if simple loot respawning is off. This admittedly mediocre melee weapon only spawns in Security, and in very specific spots. It's base damage output is 25, and the required items to upgrade it, are as follows; The 2nd Tier upgrade for this weapon and the required items are as follows; Stun Baton 1 Field Battery 1 Magnetic Alloy 4 Tech Scrap 1 SensorBase Damage: 25 *Weapon stuns targets for a short duration, and does not have a battery charge. Ornate Knife Introduced in Cold Fusion alongside the new (very obviously HL1 inspired) Order Assasins, the Ornate Knife is a relatively meh lategame knife weapon, not craftable by the player but consistently dropped by the aforementioned enemy so far only found in The Praetorium, an area of the game I'm very personally mixed on. It has a branching path for it's upgrades, allowing the player to choose which style they'd prefer to use it with. It's base damage output is 20, and the required items to upgrade it, are as follows; The Upgrade branches into two different paths, the Interfection Katar, and the Ornate Daggers Interfection Katar 2 Metal Scrap 1 Cloth ScrapBase Damage: None listed. This operates more as a weaponized shield, similar to the Mystagogue Glove, allowing the player to use it to allegedly parry attacks. Ornate Daggers 1 Ornate KnifeBase Damage: 18 *Seems to trade off slight base melee damage for INCREDIBLY fast swing speed. Death by 1000 papercuts if you will. X-Ray Lamp/X-Ray Tower This is one of the odd cases where this could technically be considered a weapon, although it is only useful in very specific cases. The X-Ray Lamp has one upgrade, specifically tailored to a specific IS in Residential, the Krasue. While the Krasue cannot be dissuaded by normal X-Rays from the X-Ray Lamp, it can be by the upgrade, the OX Lamp. The materials required for it and the upgrade are as follows; X-Ray Lamp 1 X-Ray Tower 2 Jailbroken CPU 1 Leyak EssenceBase Damage: 0 X-Ray Tower 1 Projection Matrix 2 Refined Carbon 1 Lab Burner 1 KeyboardBase Damage: 0 The 2nd Tier upgrade for this weapon/Structure and the required items are as follows; OX Lamp 1 Thermocell 2 Tactical ScrapBase Damage: 0 OX Tower 1 Thermocell 2 Tactical ScrapBase Damage: 0 Vacuum An early game, decently fun tool/weapon similar to that of the Suck Cannon from Ratchet and Clank, the Vacuum can suck up items (and serve as a reliable way to easily kill the living trees in Canaan) as well as suck up small enemies such as pests and grubs to shoot them out at high velocity. It's upgrade proving even more useful with the capability to suck up and return projectiles. The upgrade for it is as follows; Vacuum 1 Energy Brick 1 Pressure Gauge 2 Metal Pipe 1 Raw CarbuncleBase Damage: 0 Max Battery: 800 The 2nd Tier upgrade for this weapon/tool and the required items are as follows; Nuke-Vac 1 Raw Carbuncle 1 Transuranic Superalloy 4 Case Fan 1 Night EssenceBase Damage: 150 Max Battery: 1500 NOTE: This upgrade is also able to chop up corpses, though the butchering quality level is currently unknown. Energy Pistol The Energy Pistol is among the last ranged science weapons that the player can craft, serving as a useful alternative to overworld guns should the player not have the required materials to upgrade them and remove their bio locks, or as it previously was before 1.0, had the player not wanted to wear the required arm wraps to use those weapons. The upgrade for it is as follows; Energy Pistol 1 LCD Screen 8 Military Electronics 4 Night Essence 2 CapacitorBase Damage: 10 Max Battery: 35 *Fires for 5 ticks, 10 damage each tick. Overworld Ranged Weapons/Military Ranged Note that for all overworld firearms that require the Bio-Metric Armwraps, Bio-Mimic Armwraps, or Bio-Fusion Imitator to use, upgrading the weapon also removes that requirement. Security Pistol Unable to be crafted, as with every other ranged weapon following this one, the Security Pistol is considered the subclass of "Overworld Ranged" in Abiotic Factor, meaning the weapon cannot be crafted, and may require an upgrade, or bio-lock arm guards to utilize (however the security pistol, does not). It has an ammo count of 18, and a fire rate of 0.053s The upgrade, and materials required for it, are as follows; Toaster SMG 2 Jailbroken CPU 1 Anteverse Gel 2 Carbon Plating 1 Ornate KeyBase Damage: 30 Ammo: 18 Fire Rate: 0.06s *The Toaster SMG has an accelerating fireball secondary projectile fired in addition to the bullet, it deals 10 Acid damage. I still don't know if there's anything particularly special about it or if its just lore reasons that it is an IS. It has an ammo count of 2. The upgrade, and materials required for it, are as follows; Plasmois Rifle 1 Heart of Corruption 4 Arcane Scrap 1 Transuranic Superalloy 1 Intermediate Gun Repair KitBase Damage: 50 Ammo: 30 *Fires a secondary Plasma based projectile alongside the bullets. The Wessex Rifle is by default outclassed damage wise by the Magbow, however it's upgrades may encourage some players to continue using it. It's not dissimilar to the Wessex considering the 15% drop rate, but you can encounter this earlier than it should you get lucky killing an Order captain. It has an ammo count of 6. Never really dabbled in the use of paint in Abiotic, felt it was out of the scope of what I wanted to do with the game and reductive to my resource grind and hoarding techniques. However that isn't to say that I'm not glad it's in the game, I am very glad it is, as I am not most players, some will likely want to utilize paint to further customize aspects of their base. The only paint to have an enhancement, which is ironically just a new colour, is Black Paint.
