Note that this deck requires massive draw power so that Dragonsign and Liu Feng can be obtained ASAP. Plus, having all those extra cards in your hand is actually pretty necessary for when your deck gets replaced with the Cocytus one, as the cards remaining in your hand become your lifeline until the Cocytus cards can actually take effect. Ruby, Greedy Little Cherub - Ruby is an entirely underrated bronze-rarity card that polishes your hand by cycling what could be a godawful brick that you don't want/need right now for a minty-fresh card straight from teh deck. She also then becomes a 2/2 presence on the field, to boot, and all this for 2 cost. Ruby is an absurdly good card that deserves to be at least legendary-rarity and 10 cost, if not better/more (ok, I'm exaggerating a bit now). People are absolutely sleeping on this gem. For this Cocytus-Fu deck specifically, Ruby can help you find Dragonsign/Liu-Feng if you weren't able to get one during mulligan, and helps cover for the fact that my deck has only 1 Liu-Feng Q_Q by providing chances to cycle for it. Little Dragon Nanny - Followers with Intimidate (can't be attacked) ability are a nuisance at least and potentially game-winning at best, making them this deck's backup win condition strategy. Nanny summons a 1/1 ally with Intimidate on fanfare and a second one on evolve. If your opponent isn't equipped to handle intimidate, you've already won. Seraphic Tidings - Hypothetical people tell me that this might be too much draw-power for the deck, which already has Leah and Goldennote. I say that even if you have some of these draw-cards unplayed in your hand after you summon Cocytus, when you play them you'll be drawing OP Cocytus cards by the boatload! What NOW hypothetical people? Huh? Tell me what now? That's what I thought. Eyfa Windrider - 2 attack follower with Storm, making her an excellent fast impact card. When played while in Overflow, she gets Intimidate, becoming part of this deck's secondary win strategy, but don't be stingy and absolutely play her early to just immediately clear something troublesome on the board if necessary. There are plenty of Intimidate followers in this deck to spare. Dragonsign - The linchpin of Cocytus-Fu. Gives you +1 max PP, allowing you to play the big cards earlier, such as Cocytus. It bears repeating that you should play this as soon as you can, and if you're going second, save your bonus play point for turn 2, just to play this card. Goldennote Melody - A slightly better version of Serpahic Tidings that is exclusive to Dragoncraft. In addition to the draw-power, it heals you for 2 health if you're in Overflow. Divine Thunder - All the ramping and drawing you do will leave you quite vulnerable to enemy attack. Divine Thunder helps allieviate that issue by deleting the biggest attack-power baddy field, and then blasting all the other enemies for 1 damage. Part of our lifeline while waiting to draw the good Cocytus cards, and excellent against enemies that can't be targeted, like Portalcraft's Masterwork Omega. Draconic Berserker - 4/5 presence on the field that will nuke a single target for 4 damage on evolve, or nuke all enemies on the field for 4 damage on super-evolve. Board clear is what keeps this deck alive while you ramp and draw, as well as while you wait for the good Cocytus cards to land in your hand. This card has board clear in spades. Marion Dragonnewt - Gives an ally +2/+2 or +3/+3 if in Overflow. He is part of our backup win-condition engine; used solely to buff friendly followers with Intimidate, making these untouchable hitters even beefier and slappier. Liu-Feng, Goldenote Ward - The only other piece of ramp power this deck has; grants +1 max PP when she evolves. Has 3/3 stats and will evolve for free if played in Overflow, but don't hesitate to play her before overflow to manually evolve with an evolution point; that extra play-point is absolutely necessary as soon as possible. QQ for me because I only have 1 of her. Pleeaaaaaaaaaase, Shoddyverse! Giff me moar Liu-Feng!!! Zahar, Stormwave Dragoon - 3/3 presence with ward that, upon fanfare, summons a beefy 5/5 Intimidate ally. Part of our backup win-condition engine, Zahar is also one of the only other follower in this deck that has ward, making him a nice meat shield for your face. Calamity Breath - Nukes everything on the board for 6 damage. Keeps the enemy board clear while you ramp and draw, and while you wait for the blessings of Cocytus. Play it before putting allies down, as It'll rock them too, though you shouldn't have very many ally cards if all you're doing is ramping and drawing, or the allies that you do have will be beefy ones that can tank it. Replacing these is fine if you have something better, like additional Liu Fengs, or pretty much any gold/legendary-rarity card in general. Ruler of Cocytus - See the above section dedicated to this card. I hope Sempai notices me! Teh Mulligans and Teh Playing A Match The gist of how to play this deck is already in the intro, but here's some further details: Mulligan everything except Dragonsign and Liu Feng. Ramp and draw as early and often as possible. Between ramping and drawing, try to keep the enemy board clear with the nukes in the deck, and play the Intimidate cards to force the enemy to use their removal cards to deal with them. If you find that the enemy doesn't have a way to deal with Intimidate, it could be worth spending an evo point on one of those untouchable followers, as they might win the match just by slapping the enemy in the face with impunity. I've certainly won more than one match this way. If Intimidate doesn't win the match for you, save an evo or super-evo for Cocytus and play him ASAP. The nature of this deck will mean that you'll probably have some remaining draw-power cards in your hand when the deck turns Cocytus, meaning that you'll be able to quickly fill your hand with these op cards, that or you'll have the board clear to be able to stall the game while you draw them. You're welcome. Teh Tipz and Trucks I'm not sure, but I believe the make-up of a Cocytus deck is as follows: 1 x Astaroth 3 x Purgatory 3 x Servant 3 x Silent Rider. ¯ _(ツ)_/¯ Someone let me know. --- I know I said earlier that only Dragoncraft is viable for Cocytus, but I've found that Runecraft decks with Dimension Climb can combo with Cocytus really well, too. Dimension Climb is a 0 to 18 cost Runecraft spell that refills your entire PP pool and draws 5 cards from your deck (it also spellbooosts the cards 5 times or whatever, but that's not relevant to Sempai, so who gives a sh*t). Whenever Dimension Climb gets spellboosted, the card's PP-cost reduces by 1, and can go all the way to down to zero.. If you drop Cocytus on the board, you can play a 0-cost Dimension Climb to get 5 Cocytus cards instantly in your hand with full PP, which can be instantly game-winning. Of course, you still have to wait till turn 10 to play Cocytus at all, since Runecraft can't increase their PP, so it's still not as good as Dragoncraft Cocytus, but it's still worth considering including a maximum of 1-2 Cocytus in a Runecraft deck just for the Dimension Climb combo alone. Plus you're still very likely to draw it even if you include only a single Cocytus, because Runecraft draws cards like crazy and can pull nearly their entire deck over the course of a match. --- Congatulation!
