Kākāpō are solitary birds and tend to occupy the same home range for many years. They forage on the ground and climb high into trees. They often leap from trees and flap their wings, but at best manage a controlled descent to the ground. They are entirely vegetarian, with their diet including the leaves, roots and bark of trees as well as bulbs, and fern fronds. 觅食 forage on the ground 在地面觅食 flap their wings 扇动翅膀 at best 充其量，顶多 controlled descent 可控滑翔降落 descent n. （蕨 / 棕榈）羽状嫩叶 句式要点 but at best manage a controlled descent 转折句，点明核心特征：鸮鹦鹉翅膀不足以支撑飞行，仅能缓冲下落； with their diet including...
