Not sure what to spend your hard earned Rubies on? This guide will show you what is good and what is good for nothing. Introduction If you are anything like me then you eventually looked at the Shop and thought to yourself, "Dear God, I don't know what to buy" or "How am I even supposed to get 12,000 Rubies" or perhaps "I am running out of Youtube videos to listen to while I play this". Well, after 8000 hours of gameplay, I can at least help with the first two. Everything below this is all the advice I could spit out about this topic in the four hours it took me to make this guide I wanted to mess around with the funny formatting tools so it probably took longer than it should have. How to Obtain Rubies Opening Chests Chests can be obtained in a few ways. First, you always obtain a Chest whenever you clear a Dungeon for the first time. You can also obtain Chests as a Quest Reward and by killing the elusive Mimic(only encountered rarely when Changing Floors). Then lastly, everyday you can go to the Other Tab and Export your save to earn a Bronze Chest. There are three tiers of Chests: Bronze(tens of Rubies), Silver(hundreds of Rubies) and Gold(thousands of Rubies) and on top of that there is a chance of obtaining Consumable items, Secondary Equipment, and even more Chests when opening them. Completing Endings By going to the Story Tab and selecting Chronicle, you can see a list of the various Endings and the rewards for completing them. By completing all six Endings, you can obtain a total of 24,000 Rubies. Quests Among the various rewards found in the Quest System, you can also come across Quests that grant Chests and Rubies. Sadly, there is a limit to how much Quest Complete Effect can apply to Ruby rewards. Killing the Guardians Once you unlock them, killing the Guardians brings many rewards but a very notable one is that each Guardian drops a single Ruby whenever they are killed. There are five Guardians and you obtain a key to fight each of them every hour. That means you can obtain 120 Rubies per day just by killing all five Guardians. The "Ruby" Shop Micro transactions. Do I need to say anything more? The Shop Part 1 Item Cost Type Number Value Habit Efficiency+ 200 Consumable Infinite Low-Medium Doubles your Habit Efficiency for 1 hour of Active play. As it is a consumable item, you will occasionally find this when opening chests and so there is no reason to buy these from the shop. Since your Habit Efficiency is usually good enough for regular play, you will most likely only find value in using this during a Pride Challenge where the reduced Habit Efficiency will significantly slow things down. Item Cost Type Number Value Seeds+ 200 Consumable Infinite Low Doubles the amount of Seeds dropped from enemies for 1 hour of Active Play. As it is a consumable item, you will occasionally find this when opening chests and so there is no reason to buy these from the shop. It is best to save these for Demon King Farming for maximum gains (there should be a guide or walkthrough explaining that somewhere). Item Cost Type Number Value Exp+ 200 Consumable Infinite Low-Medium Doubles Exp Drop Amount for 1 hour of Active Play. As it is a consumable item, you will occasionally find this when opening chests. Doubling your Exp Drop Amount is usually not worth it for regular play or even Pride Challenges however, the amount of Sin you receive from Reincarnation is based on your Total Experience so there is an argument for using this while grinding enemies with high Exp Drops (especially if you have unlocked Rare Monster Research in Greed which grants even more Exp Drop Amount). Item Cost Type Number Value Research+ 200 Consumable Infinite Low Doubles Research Drop Amount for 1 hour of Active Play. As it is a consumable item, you will occasionally find this when opening chests and so there is no reason to buy these from the shop. Because maxing out the Levels of all Standard, Rare, and Boss Monsters is trivially easy once you add them to your party there are only two use cases for this item. The first is to increase how much Research you invest into the Greed mechanic which is just kind of a waste of an item. The far more useful option is to use it to obtain more Research while fighting the Guardians as you can only fight each Guardian once per key and you obtain 1 key per hour. Since the Guardians cannot be farmed using the Demon King method, if you want to use Research+ on the Guardians be sure to stockpile a bunch of keys ahead of time. Item Cost Type Number Value Drop Chance+ 200 Consumable Infinite Low Increases your Global Drop Chance by 50% for 1 hour of Active Play (a 10% Drop Chance would become 15% while this is in use). As it is a consumable item, you will occasionally find this when opening chests and so there is no reason to buy these from the shop. While this can affect anything that drops from an enemy, there is one main use case for this item and that is collecting Rare Monsters that are not in your party. Each Zone's Rare Monster Research has a lower drop chance than the previous Zone and while you will gain a temporary bonus to drop chance each time you kill the Rare Monster and don't get its Research, this can still mean multiple days of grinding in Zone 11+. Item Cost Type Number Value Auto Recoverer 200 Consumable Infinite Zero Use to automatically recover a Squad's Stamina when it reaches zero. This is one of two consumable items that is not found in Bronze Chests. Suffice it to say, all this item does is it converts 200 rubies into the ability to not click a button one single time. Item Cost Type Number Value Powder+ 1000 Consumable Infinite Low Doubles the amount of powder received from dismantling Secondary Equipment one time. This is one of two consumable items that is not found in Bronze Chests. Due to how hard it is to obtain large amounts of Secondary Equipment prior to Zone 13, the option of using a Powder+ on something you already put a lot of Powders into can seem appealing but the prohibitive Ruby cost and difficulty in getting Secondary Equipment that meaningfully improves with Powder investment very much holds this item back. Item Cost Type Number Value Auto Summon Slot 2000 Expansion Five Zero Increases the number of Party Members than can benefit from the Auto Summon System by 1. Given that you can invest literally trillions of research with the click of a button, the only party members that benefit from the Auto Summon System are Rare Monsters(who usually have a secondary cost like honey) and the Protagonist(who levels up with Destiny). Once all Party Members reach maximum Level and Luck the Auto Summon System is completely useless. Item Cost Type Number Value Auto Level Up Slot 2500 Expansion Five Low Increases the number of Party Members that can benefit from the Auto Level Up System by 1. While all other Party Members will eventually reach a maximum capacity for Seeds, the Blazing Soul and Evil Eye can both have an infinite number of Seeds invested into them. By purchasing one Auto Level Up Slot you can spend twice as many Seeds per 10 seconds which can save you time otherwise spent increasing the effectiveness of the Auto Level Up System. Item Cost Type Number Value Party Slot 10000 Expansion Three Extreme Allows you to add an additional Party Member to your Passive Party. Without question, this is the first thing you should purchase in the Ruby Shop. While your Passive Party cannot fight, you do benefit from their Passive Effects such as All Stats% or Wood Regen. This can quickly add up to +300% in all of your combat stats or more. Item Cost Type Number Value Party Template 10000 Expansion Three Low-Medium Increases the number of Party Templates you can save by 1. The value of this option depends on how you use your Party Templates. In my case, I use a template for combat, Dark Rituals, Sin Farming/General, and Research Collection. By having the extra template, I was able to reduce the amount of time spent clicking things by a minute or two which I value quite highly. Essentially, the lazier you are the more you might value having an extra template or two. The Shop Part 2 Item Cost Type Number Value Shortcut Slot 10000 Expansion Three Low Increases the number of Shortcut Buttons by 1. With the Sloth update, the Shortcut system lost most of its original use. Now its primary usage is for things such as swapping formations or quickly changing Alchemy Templates, Sloth Templates, and Party Templates without using the Sloth System (such as when swapping between Greed Farming and Gluttony Farming during an Inspiration Grind). As you can obtain 6 Slots without the Ruby Shop, most people will not be motivated to pick up an extra three while more enticing purchases are available. Item Cost Type Number Value Shortcut Template 5000 Upgrade Six Zero Unlocks the ability to save 1 Shortcut Layout. Sadly, the Shortcut Template system does not allow you to bypass the Reincarnation wipe for Shortcuts. Given how little effort it takes to set up your Shortcut Buttons, only very niche strategies will make this viable for purchase. Item Cost Type Number Value Squad Slot 10000 Expansion Three Medium-High Increases the number of Squads you can send on Quests by 1. With more Squads at your disposal, your ability to complete all of your Quests increases. More completed Quests means more Permanent rewards. That said, more Squad Slots are only worth obtaining once you have more Quest Slots than you can reasonably complete with just the default two Squads. Item Cost Type Number Value Quest Slot 10000 Expansion Five High Increases your number of Quest Slots by 1. More Quest Slots means you have a higher chance of rolling Quests with Permanent Rewards on average. Considering those rewards cover most of the stats in the game, this is a very powerful way to improve yourself. Item Cost Type Number Value Quest Reward Boost 12000 Upgrade One Medium-High Increase Quest rewards by 20%(this would be 1.2x your current Quest Complete Effect from Quest rewards and Envy). As the number of Quests you manage to complete per day increases, this bonus will become more powerful. That said, 12000 Rubies is a hefty amount and you probably have better things to buy for cheap. Item Cost Type Number Value Auto Sacred Ritual 6000 Upgrade One High-Extreme Gain the ability to automate ranking up in the Sacred Ritual. One of the most annoying and click intensive parts of the early game is having to manually perform the Sacred Ritual. Not only that, but you also run the risk of forgetting to rank up before performing a Dark Ritual. Any shop option that reduces the amount of clicking you have to do is a god-send as far as I am concerned as it brings you closer to the ultimate goal of Idle Progression. Item Cost Type Number Value Upgrade Auto Eat Slot 6000 Upgrade One Medium-High Gain the ability to set a limit on a Food or Cuisine item. If Auto Eat is enabled on said item, it will consume anything past the limit. Imagine for a moment that you are making Bacon and Eggs which requires Eggs and Pork. Normally you cant eat the Eggs and Pork without being unable to make the superior cuisine item so you will inevitably reach maximum capacity in both. In order to eat them you would likely have to either manually click yourself or stop the Bacon and Eggs grind to instead eat the Pork and Eggs. But with this upgrade you can do both and that makes all of your Gluttony Grinds going forward that much more efficient. Item Cost Type Number Value Add Cook 3000 Upgrade One Low-Medium Unlocks the ability to cook items from the Gluttony Routine Menu. Before you unlock the Sloth Mechanic and Auto Eat Slots, in order to eat Cuisine items you have to go to the Main Tab then scroll down to find the specific thing you want to cook then you have to go back to the Gluttony Routine tab to eat it. Being able to do both actions in the Gluttony tab saves a lot of time and effort early on. That said, once you start getting Auto Eat Slots and the Sloth Mechanic you can basically automate the entire process so this upgrade goes from being very useful to merely convenient. Item Cost Type Number Value Equip Automation Slot 5000 Expansion Three Low Increases your number of Equipment Automation Slots by 1. The Main purpose of Equipment Automation Slots is to passively grant experience to individual pieces of Equipment. This effect is very powerful as the Equipment will double its stats once it hits its Soft Cap at Level 100. Sadly, in order to triple the base stats of a piece of Equipment it will take around 1000 additional levels and with each level taking more Experience than the last you are not likely to reach that point anytime soon. With three Equipment Automation Slots obtainable through regular play, it is quite easy to hit Level 100 on all of your Equipment so purchasing more is kind of a luxury. Item Cost Type Number Value Equip Automation Slot Exp+ 1000 Upgrade Ten High Increases Equipment Automation Slot's Exp Gain by an additional 1 Exp per 10 Seconds. By default, all Equipment worn by your party gains 1 Exp whenever you kill something. This means that you can get a maximum of 5 Exp per Floor which is quite slow in most cases. Equipment Automation Slots by default grant 1 Exp to their selected Equipment every 10 seconds. After purchasing all 10 instances of this upgrade that value skyrockets to 11 Exp every 10 seconds or 1.1 Exp per second. This is the only reasonable way to ever push a piece of Equipment to Level 1000. Item Cost Type Number Value Improved Put In 3000 Upgrade One Zero Unlocks the ability to reserve a specific amount of Gold when the Crystal Converter is active. I'm going to be frank here, this ability is worthless. Either you are late in the game and you gain more Gold than you have capacity for no matter what you do or you are early in the game and you can't make enough Gold to make the Crystal Converter useful unless you are focusing on something like Selling Books. On top of that, the Crystal Converter eventually loses its value once you finish upgrading your Equipment and have all the Additional Effects you want. The Shop Part 3 Item Cost Type Number Value Sloth Template Slot 10000 Expansion Nine Medium-Extreme Gain an additional Sloth Template. For most players this will allow you to save your most valuable Sloth set ups for future use such as saving Greed and Gluttony Templates to make Inspiration grinding more convenient. That said, if you are willing to purchase 4 Sloth Templates then you can Automate Sin Grinding which as we can all imagine is extraordinarily useful. Item Cost Type Number Value AHA Slot 10000 Expansion Three Low Increases the number of Auto Habit Allocation Templates by 1. Through regular play you will obtain three of them and odds are you probably don't need more than that. Odds are you are manually allocating most of your habit to either Envy or Familiar Gain during regular play and you just use the AHA System to avoid having to put 1 Habit in the various basic routines. Item Cost Type Number Value Improved Kill All 2000 Upgrade One Low Unlocks the toggled ability to kill all Guardians automatically when you perform a Dark Ritual or Reincarnation. Considering that both the Dark Ritual and Reincarnation windows will notify you that you still have Guardians to kill, this upgrade is mostly redundant. EDIT: Thanks Turtle for reminding me of the difference between Kill All and Improved Kill All. Item Cost Type Number Value Envy Upgrade1 3000 Upgrade One High-Extreme Gain a multiplier to Sin Gain equal to your Envy Multiplier. Considering that Envy is powered with Complaints and you gain more Complaints by getting more Sin, it just makes sense to grab this as soon as possible. Item Cost Type Number Value Envy Upgrade2 3000 Upgrade One High Gain a multiplier to all Sacred Ritual Routines equal to your Envy Multiplier. As this multiplier affects both Worship/ Austere Training and Lucky Rabbits Foot, the Envy Multiplier is effectively applied twice. So 2x results in a 4x increase, 3x becomes 9x, and so on. Anyone going for Pride's Don't Need Dark Ritual Challenge will very much benefit from this. Item Cost Type Number Value Envy Upgrade3 3000 Upgrade One High Gain a multiplier to all Energy Routines equal to your Envy Multiplier. You can never have enough Fire Capacity or Regen and now you can easily double or triple it and that means more Gluttony and more Stat Gain from the Fire Drake effect. It also helps out with doing Ending 4 Pride Challenges. Item Cost Type Number Value Envy Upgrade4 3000 upgrade One High Gain a multiplier to all Familiar Routines equal to your Envy Multiplier. Do I even need to explain? More combat stats, more Seed Drop Amount, more Gluttony and Greed multipliers, more Research Drop Chance. You even get more Summon Familiar Speed from the Lonely Fae which means you can reach even higher Familiar levels than before. Item Cost Type Number Value Envy Upgrade5 3000 Upgrade One High Gain a multiplier to all Will Routines equal to your Envy Multiplier. Will boosts a lot of things. This makes Will better. The only thing this does not do is boost your Will Gain Effect but you already have an Envy Routine for that. Item Cost Type Number Value Envy Upgrade6 3000 Upgrade One Medium-High Gain a multiplier to your Gluttony Capacity equal to your Envy Multiplier. When it comes to the Dark Ritual and Reincarnation, Gluttony tends to lag behind Greed heavily. By boosting your Gluttony Capacity you can get a better Gluttony multiplier in a shorter amount of time which makes Sin Grinding more profitable. That said it is the weakest of the Envy Upgrades. Item Cost Type Number Value Envy Upgrade7 3000 Upgrade One High-Extreme Gain a multiplier to Refresh Quests equal to your Envy Multiplier. Normally it takes 20 hours before you can roll a new batch of Quests but with this upgrade everything changes. At a 100% multiplier you can now roll new Quests every 10 hours, at 200% you get new Quests every 7 hours. More Quests means more Permanent Rewards and that means more progress with less effort on your part. Item Cost Type Number Value Improved Auto Devote 3000 Upgrade One High Enables Auto Devote to work on multiple Will Routines simultaneously. Now you can just toggle on all the Will Routines you want and never look at it again. Convenience of this quality is king. Item Cost Type Number Value Glowing Mana Shard+ 6000 Upgrade One Medium Increases the drop chance of Glowing Mana Shards by 20%. While this is a crucial upgrade for making lots of Secondary Equipment, without the Greed Bonus of Gourmet Village and a ton of Global Drop Chance, the drop chance is still so low that it will easily be over a week before you produce a single piece of Secondary Equipment. Item Cost Type Number Value Queue Slot 5000 Expansion Six Medium Gain another queue slot for the Sloth System. Through regular play you will obtain 11 Queue slots and you would think that would be enough but it is not. If you want to fully optimize the Greed mechanic then you need at least 13 Queue slots so you can farm Research from all Zones while Offline. But then you need even more so you can do other actions like make food for Gluttony. Ultimately, if you are a sane and reasonable person you might not need this. Sadly, I am not a sane and reasonable person but you probably already figured that when you started reading this guide. The Shop Final Item Cost Type Number Value Tarot pick number 8000 Expansion Ten Low Increase the number of times you can draw Tarot Cards in your current run by 1. This is very much a luxury convenience upgrade as all it does is reduce how many times you need to Reincarnate to spend all of your Alchemy dust. If you have already unlocked Alchemy then that means you completed Zone 12 a grand total of at least 4 times and that also means you can definitely complete Ending 1 in under half an hour (probably even less, I am down to just over five minutes right now). I would probably value this higher if it didn't cost an insane 8000 Rubies, I could almost get another Quest Slot with that. Item Cost Type Number Value Orb Template 6500 Upgrade Seven High-Extreme Unlocks the ability to save your current Alchemy Orb Template and increase the number of available Alchemy Orb Templates by 1. Lets make this clear, this is absolutely necessary to make Alchemy functional. By purchasing multiple Orb Templates you can start to specialize each template and specialization means big numbers. I am talking about a +220% Habit Efficiency Template, a +40% Inspiration Gain Template, and a very very out of date Combat Template that still manages to give +100% to All Stats. The only other way to get an Orb Template besides buying them here is to beat Ending 5's Don't Need Alchemy Pride Challenge and that is just not feasible for us yet. Item Cost Type Number Value Alchemy Improved Add 5000 Upgrade One Medium-High Unlocks the ability to set a limit to how many items are invested into Alchemy. So in much the same way as Gluttony's Upgraded Auto Eat Slot, this also boosts Alchemy's efficiency quite significantly. Now you too can invest all but 20-25 Hotstones while you make endless amounts of Rock Grilled Steaks in the hopes of a rank 20 Alchemy Orb. Item Cost Type Number Value 2nd Equipment Inventory 500 Expansion 100 Low Increases your capacity for Secondary Equipment by 1. This is a weird addition to the store. On the one hand it is extremely affordable and doubling your capacity for something is always a good idea. On the other hand, since you are encouraged to improve your higher quality Secondary Equipment by dismantling any inferior pieces you make, most of us have plenty of space already. It will probably be a few years before you need to start purchasing this. Afterwords This Guide was produced by a deranged madman who decided that filling up a pothole and writing a guide on Steam sounded like a good use of his time today. As far as his poor mangled brain is aware, this guide is accurate as of January 16th, 2026.
