This is a guide that provides tipps for new players from a Fallout 3 veteran including a Collectibles list, some usefull hints and tipps for the early game to avoid the usual situation of" if i only new this earlyer". Intro / about me I am a Fallout 3 Veteran who has almost 600 hours of Playtime in Fallout 3(Xbox 360) and i tought to myself, why not make a guide to help new players with some of the Basics and Collectibles. I wachted many Fallout 3 Lets Plays or playtroughs on Youtube/Twitch and recognized often times that new players/streamers run into situations, where they feel lost and or dont know what items they need to collect (apart from the obvies Bobblehead Figures, there are more then enough other guides how to get them). I wanted to create a Spoiler free Collectibles list and a more detailed List with small Spoilers which one you use is up to you.(Spoiler free one is just a list what you should collect but you need to figure out on your own for what each item is used or given to, the other list contains more details.) (This Guide only focuses on the Base Game DLC Content not included) So this is my first guide ever, hope you like it and find it helpfull, have fun exploring the Wasteland ^^. Spoiler Free Collectibles List This is a List full of items that you should keep until you find out for what these are used ( if you are using for example a Energy Weapons build then you should probably keep the Laser Rifle after all it is up too you what you keep/use or dont.) Note: Some items are Quest related so depending on your choices it is possible that not all of these items are long term collectibles, only affecting two items in the Game tho. S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats at 6-8 or above it give you Special dialogue options. Each extra point of intelligence grants you more skill points on Level Up. When your intelligence is to low you can gain access to certain dialogue options, to trigger these options, your Intelligence stat needs to be at or below 4,(Its interesting for a Cavemann Melee Build but not recommended for youre first playtrough) Skill Books: (You get your first one early on from Amata.) Do not use them right away save them until level 4 because of the Perk Comprehension, that gives you two Skill Points instead of one Skill Point per each Skill Book. There is no need for getting that perk immediately after reaching Level 4 because, there is a Perk that you definitely want to pick first upon reaching Level 4 it is called Educated, with this perk, you will add +3 extra skill points permanent to distribute on Level Up. G.O.A.T: I recommend to do the Test instead of skipping it, it is a funny test and its interesting too see what Job you get in the Vault. Now for the Skills after the G.O.A.T you can choose three Skills that you like to boost what you pick is up to you, however there are Skills that are generally aceppted as more usefull then others by the Community. Speech is good for gain more rewards or Info about NPC´s and locations and also alows you to talk your way out of most Dialogue´s. Repair is in my opinion one of the best to keep your gear always in good Condition,(yes weapons and armor can break, the better the condition the better the Damage/Armor of your equipment and better prices for Selling to traders. You repair gear by yourself by combining two of the same Wepons/Armors into one,( the higher your Repair skill is, the better is the maximum Condition of your Gear for Example: 100 Repair means you can repair it to 100% Condtion/ 57 Repair is 57% Max Condition and so on.) Lockpicking/Science is also a good Choice for getting faster access to more difficult locked areas or loot containers. (Lockpicking/Science works the following you need a certain amount of the skill to lockpick/hack a Door or Loot Container/Terminal here are the Stats you need for: Very Easy: 15 Easy. 25 Average: 50 Hard: 75 Very hard 100 These Values count for both Lockpicking and hacking Of Course its wise to boost one combat skill but that depends on your Playstyle, if you like Assault Rifles and Shotguns for Example then Small Guns is your Skill to go. For Loot i recommend always take weapons/Armor/Food and Junk that is valuable(what is valuable Junk to you depends on you.) if you ask me everything is valuable but im a loot Goblin and store everything until i have maxed out Barter/Repair Skill and then selling it for the best Price XD. If you dont plan to use for example the 32. Revolver you can restore it to full condition and then sell it for good Money or sell it right away for less Money your choice. Dont forget too lock around in the Vault theres Loot here and there. Tipps after the Intro(Vault101) When you leave Vault 101 you level up now you can choose a Perk and increase skills.( For the skills if you want a player home very fast level up explosives to 25) you can choose every Level Up a Perk and every second level up you gain access to more perks(Level 2/4/6 and so on till level 20) choose one you like, i have to mention tho i find the perks that increase skills are not that good in my opinion. Like Gun Nut for example you trade a Perk point for 5 Points in Small Guns and Repair not worth in the long run if you ask me i would rather pick the 10% more EXP or Black Widow/Ladykiller Perk but its your choice ^^ Feel free to explore the Springvale Ruins but have an eye on your carryweight, there is a Trader at Megaton the first city right down the road if you want to sell some items. Getting a Player Home There are two player homes and both have to do with Megaton small spoilers for Meagton ahead but nothing to worry about! Good Karma Home Talk to Lucas Simms Sheriff of Megaton and offer him too disarm the Nuke, then go to the nuke and disarm it (25 Explosives Skill required) goo back to him and you get the Keys to your new Home as reward. Bad Karma Home Go to the Megaton Salloon talk to Mister Burke do what he asks for and meet him at Tenpenny Tower at the end of the Quest you get a suite. Note: finish Lucy West´s Quest and get the Bobblehead from Sheriff Lucas Simms house and get the information for the main Quest before meeting with Mister Burke at Tenpenny Tower otherwise these Quests are Lost and i think the Bobblehead too, you shouldnt loose Moira´s Quest but not 100% sure here! If youre Inventory gets too full you can store your loot in a Safe or Cabinet or whatever loot container you like in Springvale ruins until you get a home. You can also be the very good guy and grab a nice weapon if you do it right, here is how you do that: Go to mister Burke accept his Quest but instead off doing it you go to the Sheriff and give him the Device that Burke gave you, now the Sheriff will go to Mister Burke in the Salloon and confront him follow him. when you arrive in the Sallon better save here. Burke will accept the Arest but as soon the Sheriff turns his back on Burke he kills him and just leaves. you have to at least attack Burke best case kill him before he can strike on the Sheriff but wait till the Sheriff turns his back on him then start shooting/bashing on Burke if you killed Burke the Sheriff thanks you for saving him and you get good karma, and now loot burke and his silenced 10mm is yours perfect for stealth and can be repaired with normal 10mm pistols. So thats it for my New Players Tipps guide i hope you find this helpfull and liked it, have fun in the Wasteland and enjoy the Story ^^ Collectibles List with Spoilers/Details These List´s are more Detailed then the Spoiler Free version of it giving you the location and NPC that belongs to the Collectibles. Note: Some items are Quest related so depending on your choices it is possible that not all of these items are long term collectibles, only affecting two items in the Game tho.
