In this guide I included lots of info and many tips. Give it a read if you're a new player or curious! Introduction If you are reading this guide, then you know that Arma Reforger is a brutal way to introduce you to digital war. Whether you’ve experienced being turned into red mist by the cannon of an LAV from 1000 metres away or if you simply got lost in a forest, this guide will most definitely help you get your head in the game. First of all, Reforger is a very complex game with many ways to play and therefore it is quite impossible to put everything there is to it into one guide. I have researched and experimented with this game for 301 hours at the time of making this, so I may leave some things out that I forgot. In the following paragraphs I will pour all of my extensive knowledge in this game, primarily short and useful tips and tricks to give you an advantage over your enemies on the battlefield. I will not include info on supplies, only certain tips with some being obscure. Without any further ado, here they all are: Communication I cannot stress how important it is to speak with your team. 95% of Reforger players are extremely friendly and will not hesitate to help you if you ask them, but most importantly communicating is necessary to have a chance at winning the game. Use your radio (G) and voice chat (T) to talk. Use the platoon channel on the radio for important information (reconnaissance, “I need help at ____”, enemy movements…) and group channel for talking with your squad.. Be wary when using voice chat, since the enemy can also hear you and see your mic icon on the left of their screen. Always remember, using your mic can save a life. When speaking in the platoon radio channel, don’t start having a conversation with some random guy, it makes the other players consider you a jerk. Only use it for important info. Basic Navigation - Use your compass. - Your map is super important, don’t lose it (or if you do steal one from a corpse). - Rivers and elevation can help you know where you are. - When using a map, at the bottom right of it there is some text which roughly estimates where you are. - Plan ahead: getting lost is inevitable for new players but always try to make a plan before going into action. Gear When you spawn, you are already given a good amount of gear to help you on your way. As of writing this, default loadout includes: Rifle with 6 magazines + one already in rifle 2x Fragmentation Grenades 2x Smoke Grenades 2x Handheld flares Radio Morphine 2x Bandages Tourniquet Map Compass Watch Passport/ID Entrenching Tool Binoculars Bayonet Flashlight As for clothing: Helmet Shirt Pants Boots Body armour (very useful) Now that you know what gear you have, let’s get on with slightly more complex tips. Advanced Weapon Handling Your rifle is one of, if not the, most important thing you can have on your character in Reforger. Without your rifle, you are nothing and vice versa. I could go on and on about the rules of firearm handling but that's boring, so instead here are some tips on handling it like a professional: - Magazines that you spawn with only have 30 rounds each, do not waste ammunition in a gunfight. - Zero your rifle, 100m if the enemy is close and adjust for distance. Having it zeroed at 400-500m for CQB (close quarters combat) can be very effective if you are crouched down, since essentially you are guaranteed to get a headshot if you aim for the chest. - Bayonets are EXTREMELY underrated. Not only do they one tap anyone within your proximity but they also REDUCE RECOIL. (so do underbarrel grenade launchers). - Fire in short, controlled bursts to maximize ammo, single-fire for long distance and fully automatic for suppressive fire. - When aiming, you can hold down right-click (or left trigger on controller) to zoom in. - Do not remove your flash hider, it helps with accuracy. - You can shoot through certain materials, fences and wooden doors mostly. If you know an enemy is right behind one, scare them by going full auto. - If you inspect any weapon, you can manually remove the magazine. This may be useful for roleplay scenarios. The FIA The FIA (Freedom and Independence Army) is a small militia from Everon and Arland who fight for the independence of their islands. They are hostile to both Americans and Soviets. Even though they are annoying little ♥♥♥♥♥ with holy accuracy at long distances, when you satisfyingly kill one they have very good loot that many players ignore: - All FIA soldiers have bandages, tourniquets and morphine. Take all of that. - Need a replacement weapon? Pick up theirs and some ammo. Their basic rifle has got a very good rate of fire if you need something to suppress with. - Grenades and smoke grenades are valuable, don’t forget to loot them. - Some FIA have got RPG-7’s. Check all bodies after a firefight. - Taking FIA passports to an arsenal gives some XP. - The FIA have got cool watches, take them if you want to look sexy. Miscellaneous Here is a big list of tips, tricks and info that didn’t really have a specific category. - Microterrain. If you are getting indirect or direct fire, get prone asap (as long as your far away enough). When you are prone, find any cover possible. Dents in the ground, vegetation, trees, cars, rocks, anything. After finding cover you can concentrate on being shot at. - Weight. Being weighed down by carrying 90kg of gear isn’t ideal. Keep it under 45kg at max, and avoid carrying an LMG, RPG and 80 grenades. Less weight means faster movement speed. - Loot, loot and loot. After finishing a firefight, loot all the bodies. Make sure the area is safe first - Ambushes are not fun. If you find something blocking the road, it usually means there's 2 guys waiting to shoot you in some bushes. Whatever you do, do NOT get out of your vehicle and reverse. - You can hold shift when driving to go even faster, be careful when going over lumpy terrain and turning. - Did you know vehicles have got hazard lights? If you need some light to see the road but don’t want to be very visible, give them a try. - Ambulances have got a ceiling light in the back. - Talking about ambulances, they are very rarely used in Conflict. They are OP and can save lives in a gunfight. - In the LAV, BTR and BRDM, the commander can stick his body out of his hatch for a better view. - The NSV is very powerful but holds few rounds. Conserve ammo when using. - Soviet sights can be illuminated. - American helmets have got 2 see-in-the-dark patches on the back. - Pick the correct camo when choosing your loadout. - Gloves and long sleeve clothing is necessary since your skin glows in the dark. - Never remove body armour, even to save weight. End You’ve reached the end of this guide. Remember to read the Field Manual and the game's loading screen hints which are very useful. If I missed something, tell me in the comments. Consider leaving a like if you learnt something new!
