Something something teach a man where to fish something something. Fish locations and you. A Note Before We Begin Fishing in Halcyon Days at Taoyuan is relatively straightforward: go to the right location at the right time and make it happen. You can use bait to make your life easier, or you can surrender yourself to the RNG gods. Fish are split into five different locations: river, lake, sea, pond, and then the lake by the pink tree (which can be accessed at the bottom). This guide will refer to them using that terminology, with "pink lake" describing the lake by the large pink tree. Many fish are available in all "freshwater" locations, which would be the river, lake, pond, and the pink lake. The shellfish are also included, as they have specific information available for them. I believe this information correlates to the times you can get them via net fishing, but someone can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I split them by rarity instead of season because almost all of them can be found in multiple seasons. I've also included the contribution value of each fish, listed under "points". If you want to know how many vouchers, divide points by 10. Yes, you have to do math. I'm sorry. Shoutout to Nyx and those in the discord for putting up with all my dumb questions as always. This information was gathered in 1.0.7. If new fish were added or the timing of catching certain fish has changed since then, this guide may not be entirely accurate. Translations of this guide are allowed, feel free! Q: Which fish should I catch for Xiao Dalan's legendary fish quest? A: Any of the fish in the "gold/prismatic" section will work. I don't know the exact requirements to start catching them, but I have heard that you need at least level 7 fishing (with a rod that is not gold), or you can get it at lower levels (such as 6 or possibly even 5) with the gold rod. Q: I'm having trouble catching lower rarity fish now that I've leveled up. What should I do? A: You can try using specific bait for the lower level fish. The bait does not guarantee a lower level fish, only makes the chance higher, so you should make more than you anticipate you might need. You can also try net fishing for the fish, as net fishing doesn't normally work for the higher rarities. Barring that, Yuanyi sells random fish every day, so you might just want to check his shop (restarting the day to reroll his stock) if you're desperate for a certain fish. Q: How do I fish in the pink lake area? A: At the bottom of the map, by the blocked path south, there is a path to the right hidden behind that tree. You can fish down there. Q: Can I catch legendary fish more than once? A: You can catch them as many times as you like, provided you're in the right area with the right level/rod. Q: Is bait required? A: Bait will make your life easier, but it is not required. The various baits can increase bite rate, reduce energy used by casting, or increase the chance to get certain kinds of fish (eg. legendary or lower rarities). Simply have the bait in your inventory and it will use it automatically, starting with the lowest value.
