This guide is made for new players who are starting their journey in Destiny, hope this will be useful for you! Introduction to the Destiny First time when you launch Destiny, you might feel a little bit overwhelmed already because the game will give you certain pop-up windows you won't understand much, and they are not important for a new player. Destiny might be uncomfortable for you the first time you launch it, but after you get through some pop-ups, you will get to Character Selection, where you can choose your first class to play. First up is Titan, then you have Hunter, and the last one is Warlock. It really doesn't matter which character you choose because you have up to three slots for characters, so you can create each one and play them as you like. A little reminder is that if you complete all quests and stories on one character, you will have to do it on each of them separately because gear, armor, story progress, and abilities are not shared with your other characters. It's really up to you how you start, but if you are not satisfied with your selection, you can always create another class and try it with them. As soon as you create your character, the game will show you a cutscene covering the story. You will be thrown into the Tutorial mission, where you will encounter key mechanics in the game and learn your abilities and classes (some supers have a Heavy attack on MB2, just in case). The tutorial itself has changed from what I played when I first launched Destiny, but there is an option where you can "Skip The New Light Campaign." As a new player, I would not recommend you skip the campaign but play it. I don't think myself that this tutorial is necessary because a lot of things have changed since the previous time I played the tutorial, but as long as you finish it from start to finish, I think you might be prepared for the rest of the game. What's New in Renegades Expansion ? If you're curious about what came with the release of Renegades, well… there’s honestly a lot. Below, you can see the Roadmap Bungie provided—much later than they originally promised, but hey, at least we finally got it. One of the first things every player was expecting from this expansion is the Renegades Campaign, inspired by Star Wars. Alongside it, we’ve also get Lawless Frontier Activities, which function similarly to bounty hunts for players. These activities will reward you with additional loot such as armor sets, weapons, resources, and possibly even some currencies (like Enhancement Cores, Enhancement Prisms, and other…). We’ve also get a new Exotic Mission, though it's part of the Campaign with the Lightsaber as the reward. On top of that, on December 12th a new Dungeon dropped with name Equilibrium. And of course, I can’t forget the new weapons. The variety is huge, giving players a ton of options to choose from. These weapons are part of both the Campaign and the Lawless Activities. Everything you earned during The Edge of Fate expansion has carried over, so you didn't lost anything. If you have a favorite armor set or God Roll weapon, don’t worry — you're still able to use their bonus damage and resists in Renegades. Players weren’t happy about the whole “Featured Gear” system, so Bungie made changes: ALL Exotic weapons and armor is Featured, meaning you can use literally anything and still get bonus damage/damage resistance from the Artifact (this applies only to Exotic gear). As I mentioned, all gear from Edge of Fate was transfered over and remains Featured, so you can still benefit from increased damage/damage resistance. If your Vault is already full… don’t worry — with the release of Renegades, Bungie gave us +300 extra Vault slots. The Vault is also reworked to be more organized and easier to navigate. If you collected any Exotic ornaments, Renegades will let you use them more broadly (Meaning if you have some Exotic Armor equipped and you have an Ornament on that piece of Armor you can use it to "reskin" it). If you’re a returning player who didn’t play much during Edge of Fate, Bungie has a “Welcome Gift” for you — a chest in the Tower containing gear at Power 300, so you won’t have to grind your way up. As for activities, here’s what Bungie gave us with the launch of Renegades: New Solo Ops: Typhon Imperator New Fireteam Ops: Well… “new.” If you’re a veteran player, this won’t be new for you — it’s the return of the Sunless Cell Strike. New Activity Playlist: Arena Ops — a 6-player PvE mode New Pinnacle Ops: Similar to Fireteam Ops — the return of Vox Obscura and Derealize And more… Each playlist is also getting new gear. There’s a lot, so here’s a quick overview. Before that, Bungie has already shown the weapons coming from the new Equilibrium Dungeon: Equilibrium Dungeon Weapons: Zealous Ideal (Auto Rifle) Bitter End (Machine Gun) High Tyrant (Pulse Rifle) Voltaic Shade (Scout Rifle) Conspiracy Honed (Sniper Rifle) Sullen Claw (Sword) New and reprised weapons in Portal (Some may be exclusive to Pinnacle Ops or Crucible Ops) Uncivil Discourse (Hand Cannon) Modified B-7 Pistol (Hand Cannon) All or Nothing (Pulse Rifle) Compact Defender (Sidearm) Refurbished A499 (Sniper Rifle) M-17 Fast Talker (Submachine Gun) Nox Sidereal IV (Fusion Rifle) Psi Aeterna IV (Pulse Rifle) [Micro-missle] Evening SI4 (Sidearm) Something Something (Sniper Rifle) A Good Shout (Bow) Sarpedon-D (Hand Cannon) Horror’s Least (Pulse Rifle) Oxygen SR3 (Scout Rifle) Monody-44 (Fusion Rifle) Motif-41 (Grenade Launcher) Hawthorne’s Field-Forged Shotgun (Shotgun) Eighty-Six (Sword) Peculiar Charm (Submachine Gun) Mos Athanor IV (Hand Cannon) Riptide (Fusion Rifle) Qua Vinctus IV (Machine Gun) The last part brings us to Update 9.5.0.1, that released a week after Renegades launched. Weekly Rituals: Vanguard Alerts A playlist will be added for old Vanguard maps, Strikes, and Battlegrounds, where you’ll earn new gear and experience familiar content again. Each completion should grant a reward worth your time. New Crucible game modes Arena Ops additions And events coming in Renegades: Sword Week Foundry Weapon Sponsorship: Tex Mechanica The Dawning (Christmas event) Arms Week: Bows Iron Banner Heavy Metal Mid-Season Call to Arms Surges, Reward Boosts, and more And that’s everything you can expect in Renegades. If anything new appears that I don’t understand yet — don’t worry. I’ll update this guide as quickly as possible and keep it maintained for as long as necessary.

Classes and Subclasses As I said, you have three classes you can choose from. I would recommend you try all of them so you know which suits you better, rather than just starting one and then realizing it's boring for you. Each class has a unique playstyle and combat style (excluding weapons): Hunter – Perfect for flanking and quick In & Out combat Warlock – Perfect for support players, excels in team support and burst damage Titan – Perfect for tank players, unique in long combats, survivability, and team defending Each class has up to six subclasses to master. You can choose from plenty and adapt them to your own playstyle: Solar – Unlocked at the start from Ikora Arc – Unlocked at the start from Ikora Void – Unlocked at the start from Ikora Stasis – Unlock via Beyond Light Campaign Strand – Unlock via Lightfall Campaign Prismatic – Unlock via Final Shape Campaign Be advised: if you don't own Lightfall and The Final Shape DLCs, you CAN'T obtain Strand or Prismatic. Each subclass has three things you have to master first before you can start making your own builds and developing your unique playstyle. First are Abilities – here you can choose the style of jumping, melee, grenade, and class ability. Next are Aspects – each aspect has a unique passive or active ability you can choose and use in combat, but you can choose only two of them, so pairing them into a good combo is important. Up next are Fragments – this is where your build is created properly. You can choose up to five fragments to combine together. At first, it will be really confusing and maybe a little annoying to find a combination that suits you well, but trust me – after you master each subclass and manage to get good combos (or just watch the meta and copy it into your build – it’s up to you), you’ll love it! Last but not least, we have Supers – or "Ultimate ability" if you’re fancy. Each subclass has three different supers you can choose from. Let’s take a look at them! Warlock: Well of Radiance – Strong circle-like area, provides healing and damage boost Song of Flame – Strong damage reduction for you and your teammates Daybreak – Summons a burning sword that sends waves of fire Nova Bomb – Cataclysm – Summons a powerful bomb that causes high damage and splits Nova Warp – Blink forward or charge a powerful blow Nova Bomb – Vortex – Similar effect to another Nova Bomb Stormtrance – Lightens you up with a lightning surge Chaos Reach – Summons a powerful laser beam Winter's Wrath – You become a freeze lord and can freeze and shatter everything Needlestorm – Summons powerful arcane needles Hunter: Golden Gun – Deadshot – Summons a powerful gun that one-shots Golden Gun – Marksman – Summons a powerful gun that one-shots Blade Barrage – Summons a blade barrage that spreads on enemies Arc Staff – Summons a powerful arc staff that electrifies enemies Gathering Storm – Summons an arc staff that can be thrown to a certain location, causing lightning damage over time Storm's Edge – Summons a powerful arc dagger which can be thrown and teleported to the location where the dagger lands Shadowshot – Deadfall – Shoots a powerful void orb that tethers enemies together and makes them vulnerable Shadowshot – Moebius Quiver – Shoots three void orbs that slow, damage, and weaken enemies Spectral Blades – Summons two blades and lets you go ninja-style, applying invisibility with each kill Silence and Squall – Throws two kamas that freeze enemies and create a cyclone that freezes Silkstrike – Summons a mighty strand silk rope that unravels and one-shots enemies Titan: Hammer of Sol – Summons solar hammers Burning Maul – Summons a strong solar hammer Fist of Havoc – Turns you into an “electro-like” character Thundercrash – Channels arc energy into a mighty arc dash Sentinel Shield – Summons a void shield that can be thrown and used for guarding Ward of Dawn – Summons a void bubble providing cover and overshield Twilight Arsenal – Summons three void axes that can be thrown, causing damage Glacial Quake – Turns you into a stasis warlord, creating stasis crystals upon impact Bladefury – Summons strand blades which can send strong strand projectiles and bind enemies Where should i go first ?

If you have purchased some of the DLCs, I recommend you start them in this order so the story will make more sense: (Although it might not make full sense for you, because much of the story and events happened in seasons that are now unavailable — each expansion had four seasons to cover its story. If you want to know more, make sure to check some lore videos or the YouTube channel “My Name is Byf.”) Shadowkeep Beyond Light Witch Queen Lightfall Final Shape (Just a little note. Shadowkeep and Beyond Light Campaigns might be free to play, but i'm not sure of it). I am not including The Edge of Fate in this list because the new expansion is part of the New Saga and has nothing to do with the original Light and Darkness Saga. The Edge of Fate is set in the new “Fate” Saga, which will expand over the coming years, starting in December with the release of the Renegades expansion. After you are done exploring, you should try the activities listed at the top of the screen: Vanguard, Gambit, Crucible, and Legends. Each of these activities has a unique playstyle. Vanguard – A classic PvE activity where you can try out your weapons, builds, and explore strikes from each destination. This is a more “relaxing” activity. Within Vanguard, there are also Nightfall strikes. Nightfall – Nightfall is similar to Vanguard, but adds more challenge. Think of it as a “skill check” to see if you’re ready for harder content. Nightfalls are designed to be tougher than Vanguard strikes but not enough to ruin your experience. You will encounter Champions (Barrier, Unstoppable, Overload). Each Champion type must be stunned, or they can disrupt your progress and ruin your run. To know how to stun them, check your Artifact — it will tell you which weapons can stun each type. Some weapon perks or abilities can also stun Champions. For example, Stasis shatter now stuns Overload Champions. Make sure to optimize your loadout for weapons or abilities. Gambit – A mix of PvE and PvP. You and your team will fight enemies, and when you defeat them, they drop motes (a white triangle item). The rules are simple: collect motes, bank them in the depositor, and outscore the enemy team. When your team deposits one hundred motes, you’ll summon the Primeval and must defeat it. The first team to kill their Primeval wins. There’s a twist: banking motes or damaging the Primeval opens an invasion portal for both teams. You can invade the enemy team; if you kill an enemy player during their mote phase, they drop all their motes and lose progress. During the Primeval phase, each kill on enemy players will heal their Primeval, giving your team an advantage. If you invade, be patient rather than reckless. Crucible – PvP-only mode with several playlists. The most popular is Iron Banner (fun but can be frustrating with random teammates). In Crucible, your aim matters most. You can choose between casual PvP, ranked PvP, or high-end PvP called Trials of Osiris, where communication and skill win games. Legends – A category for different high-end activities: raids, dungeons, and exotic missions. Dungeons – High-end PvE content requiring experience. Dungeons have unique mechanics, puzzles, and bosses. Watch guides before attempting so you don’t get stuck early. Raids – The top-tier Destiny activity. Includes both legacy raids from Destiny 1 (Vault of Glass, King’s Fall, Crota’s End) and new ones (Salvation’s Edge, Root of Nightmares). Raids require a team of six — some can be soloed, but only by highly skilled players. Exotic Missions – Soloable missions but require attention to objectives. Zero Hour is a perfect example — you have limited time to complete it, and on Expert difficulty, the timer is shorter and enemies are much stronger. There are three exotic missions in weekly rotation (resetting every Tuesday), except The Whisper and Zero Hour, which are always available. Finally, let’s head to the Tower to meet the Vanguard and other important NPCs: Titan Vanguard Zavala – Commander of the Vanguard Lord Shaxx – Crucible overseer Drifter – Hot Daddy and creator of Gambit Ikora Ray – Warlock Vanguard; unlocks subclass abilities, aspects, and fragments Ada-1 – Offers bounties, shaders, cosmetics, and exotic armor focusing (Season of Reclamation) Hawthorne – Clan steward; gives clan bounties and rewards for playing with clanmates Banshee-44 – Gunsmith; sells weapons and mods Master Rahool – Cryptarch; decrypts exotic engrams Saint-14 – Trials of Osiris vendor What if i go in Solo ? This is a good question — I know not everyone has friends who play Destiny, or maybe they haven’t even thought about it. But for you, my dear SoloQ players, I have something good to introduce to you. If you’re going into Destiny 2 alone without any friends and you think it will be boring and you’ll end up quitting soon (I mean the game, alright?), you can do these things to get a better experience: After you’re done with the tutorial and introductions, try looking for some clans or influencers and join their Discord servers. Meet some new folks and have fun with them. Find a clan. I know not everyone wants to socialize, but it’s worth it! If you find the right clan with the right people, things can be much better than you think. The third and last one is for those who really don’t want to do any of the above. If you desperately need someone to join you to finish an activity you’re not capable of completing on your own, here’s the final solution: in-game LFG. I’m not kidding… HEY, WHY ARE YOU LAUGHING??? You can go to the Social page in-game and find or create a fireteam for the activity you want to finish — whether it’s a dungeon, raid, Gambit, Crucible, seasonal content, whatever you want. Just name it and find players. Like I said, it’s the final solution if you desperately need something done but can’t do it solo. Down below, you can see how to get in.

Missing Content and Destiny Vault (DCV) When you first enter Destiny, you will be guided by the New Light quest, which will walk you through the game and give you an introduction to its systems. You might encounter specific NPCs who are either your enemies or allies, but once you finish New Light and enter the Tower, you might feel a bit confused. Most of the content was vaulted shortly after the Beyond Light DLC was launched: Mars Io Titan 7 Strikes 4 Campaigns (Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, Forsaken) 5 Raids 2 Gambit maps 6 Seasonal Activities Tribute Hall 2 Exotic Missions 19 Exotic Quests 8 Vendors 11 PvP maps H.E.L.M. Last City 📜 Destiny 2 – Timeline of Content Vaulting (Vaulting = removal or relocation of content from the live game) 2020 – Beyond Light Removed destinations: Mars, Io, Titan, Mercury Vaulted campaigns: Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind Vaulted strikes located on these destinations Removed: Tribute Hall, several PvP maps, exotic missions tied to vaulted destinations 2022 – The Witch Queen Continued vaulting of older seasonal activities (Seasons 8–14) Part of the old loot pool moved into the Destiny Content Vault 2023 – Lightfall Vaulted Season of the Haunted, Season of Plunder, Season of the Seraph (Seasons 17–19) Removed seasonal locations and activities (e.g., Leviathan patrol zone from Haunted) 2024 – The Final Shape (pre-launch changes) Vaulted activities from Season of Defiance, Season of the Deep, Season of the Witch Removed final versions of H.E.L.M. and older seasonal hubs 2025 – Edge of Fate Major structural change – most content moved into the Portal menu Some older exotic missions returned in rotation (Zero Hour, The Whisper) Confirmed: Most older campaigns remain vaulted until Bungie decides to reintroduce them It was a really hard hit for the Destiny community, and it still affects players today — especially new ones. The previous campaigns and all that content could show players the full story and make everything clear, but unfortunately, Bungie made the decision to remove it, and it still remains inaccessible. No one knows whether the content will ever return or if it’s gone for good. If you are willing to play Destiny, I strongly recommend you look up some lore or learn about the story so you know what is going on. With the DLCs that remain (and are mentioned in this guide), you can at least get part of the story and some knowledge of the bigger picture. Also, after every expansion, all previous seasons (for example, Season of the Wish, Season of the Deep, Episode Echoes, Heresy, Revenant) — along with all the activities from those seasons — are also vaulted and can’t be accessed. However, there might be a chance they will appear in the Portal in the future. Nightfalls and Onslaught explanation Nightfall – This is a daily-focused activity. It's kind of the same as Vanguard, but enemies have greater health, and you really have to be careful. In addition to this, in Nightfall you can encounter "Champions" — special enemies with big health bars, marked with a sign. Before diving into the Nightfall, check which Champions are in the current rotation. There are three types of Champions: Barrier, Overload, and Unstoppable. Each of these Champions needs to be stunned, or they can ruin your run pretty badly. To check which weapons can stun them, be sure to check your Artifact and select the right weapons. Be aware that weapons with Stasis damage and the Chill Clip perk can stun Overload Champions. You can either equip a weapon that directly stuns an Unstoppable Champion, or you can run Aspects like Hellion (Ignition will stop Unstoppable Champions). If you're going into Nightfall, be very aware of these Champions, because one bad step and you can be dead. On higher difficulties, it really is a matter of life and death. Onslaught – [BE ADVISED: ONSLAUGHT HAS LEFT THE FIRETEAM OPS SECTION AND CAN NOW BE FOUND IN PORTAL UNDER PINNACLE OPS] This game mode was first announced with the Into the Light event. This mode is like a Horde mode — you play through 30 waves and must defend the ADU. You can buy defenses like turrets, tripwires, or decoys. In certain waves you can encounter strong enemies like a big Demolitionist with high health, or even a Tormentor (trust me, you don’t want to meet him up close). The only thing that matters here is defending the ADU and reaching the 30th wave. On every 10th wave, you will have a boss room where you must defeat a boss. For each defeated boss, a chest will spawn and reward you with Glimmer (currency), Portal Gear, Strange Coins (currency), and some resources (Enhancement Cores or Enhancement Prisms). Unlike the previous version of the Onslaught, pre-EOF. Now your enemies has flexibile power, you can set the right power when launching Onslaught to balance it to your own power and not get wiped in the 1st wave. How does Artifact looks and works ? + Surges So, as I mentioned earlier, there’s an Artifact for each Season. Each of these Artifacts has its own unique perks you can choose from. With each perk, your certain Subclass or Weapons can get a boost of Damage or additional elements. For Season of Reclamation, there are plenty to choose from. If we look back at Episode: Heresy, the main focus was on Arc, Void, and Strand. In this Season, Bungie pulled out an ace of all aces — here you can focus on Stasis, Strand, and the almighty Solar, which was a really brutal element back in Season of the Wish. So, what is this Artifact hiding in itself? Here’s a quick look: As you can see, each of these perks gives me a different boost to something else. Unfortunately, each Season the Artifact changes, and so do the weapons and perks in it. If you want to know what’s the best for the current Season, make sure you check the Artifact as the first thing you do when a new Season is out. If you see that the focused Subclass is, for example, Void, you probably won’t want to run Strand as your main. Don’t get me wrong — it’s kinda whatever which Subclass you’re playing, but in High-End and Difficult activities it’s better to play what’s focused on the Artifact rather than something that isn’t. Sure, you can play anything you like, but without Surges you’re just doing “regular” damage at best. If there’s a Surge in the Activity and you’re playing the Subclass or Weapon with that element, then the Artifact bonus is kind of a second rail you want to pick if things get really messy.

This is how the Surge icon looks — it’s a green circle with the element that is focused. In this case, we’ve got Strand, giving an outgoing damage boost of 25%. This means every source of damage from Strand is higher and deals more damage to combatants. For example, if you’re playing a Strand subclass with a Strand weapon, your Surge won’t stack (it would be nice if it did), but it does mean that it doesn’t matter if you’re damaging enemies with an Ability or Weapons — you’ll do 25% more damage with both sources. However, if you start shooting with a Kinetic weapon or a Heavy weapon without the Strand element, your damage will be the same as if you didn’t have Strand equipped. It’s not enough to simply have the element equipped — you actually have to use it. Power Level, Earning New Gear, Weapons, Tiering, Activities Now that Edge of Fate has released, all Guardians have their Power set at 10. JUST BEFORE YOU START READING FURTHER. BE ADVISED THAT BUNGIE HAS MADE A DECISION THAT POWER WON'T RESET AT RENEGADES LAUCH, SO YOUR GRINDED POWER WILL REMAIN THE SAME AS YOU LEFT IT. How am I gonna get higher Power ? – In Edge of Fate, you can grow your Power by simply playing Portal activities. The best way to obtain greater Power is to go into Portal → Solo Ops → Choose a Map and have fun! After completing an activity, you are granted “Pinnacle Gear” (Weapon or Armor). You can simply move from one activity to another and earn new gear. If you own the latest Destiny 2 expansion (Edge of Fate), you can also progress through the campaign to earn more Power and reach the cap. What actually is a Power Level ? – Power Level determines your capability to do harder content or high-end activities like Raids or Dungeons. As mentioned, playing Pinnacle Ops, Fireteam Ops, and even Solo Ops will give you Pinnacle Gear, which increases your Power. The higher your Power, the harder content or difficulty you can do — simple as that. How am I gonna get better weapons and armor ? – As mentioned above, you can play the story campaign on Kepler (new destination through Portal) or simply do Pinnacle Ops or playlists in Portal. If you want a higher tier weapons/armor, you should also make sure to advance at your Guardian Rank. Unfortunately, there’s no way to farm higher Power in Vanguard Ops, Nightfalls, or Gambit. I’m not sure about Legends in the World tab (I haven’t tried doing a Dungeon or Raid yet), but for now, your main and only way to farm new gear is through the Portal. The best way to maximize your Power is to repeat Caldera… yep, you heard that right. Either do Solo Ops (which can take 5–10 minutes) or gather a team and play Fireteam Ops. How to get high-stat armor? – Your armor stats scale with the tiering system in the game: Tier 1 – 48–53 total stats Tier 2 – 54–58 total stats Tier 3 – 59–64 total stats Tier 4 – 65–72 total stats Tier 5 – 73–75 total stats, with an additional mod socket for stat tuning Important: As your Power goes higher, you will obtain higher-tier gear (weapons and armor). Power 10–100 – Tier 1 Gear Power 200–300 – Tier 2 Gear Power 300–400 – Tier 3 Gear Power 400–450 – Tier 4 Gear Power 450+ – Tier 5 Gear Your gear is ranked from Tier 1 to Tier 5. Tier 1 is the basic tier we all start with. As we progress, we can obtain better tiers for both weapons and armor. Again — the higher the difficulty, the better the tier of weapons or armor you will get. Engrams you can get: Blue Engrams – Welcome back, old friend!
