A general guide from someone who played once through but it took 90+ hours because I tried to move my base and that was a painful decision. General Pointers This is a great game which got me hooked. I've got a video part way into the game where I complain about some of the issues but there's lots of pointers in it https://youtu.be/mgYzCEmD3dc I also did a shorter video showing my base by the end of it https://youtu.be/x6nCjdr2hHw A few pointers. Firstly - The initial location you pick is important. Don't try setting up a 2nd base unless you want lots of pain and trouble. You'll want a base that's somewhat easily defendable, with an area you can setup walls and eventually fortified gates with a decent line of sight. Yet you need space for buildings inside your base and buildings nearby you can deconstruct in order to get resources. Once you've done the initial basics, you'll be able to put some squads in cars and have them go scavenge for resources which will be useful compared to just scavenging a small amount. Eventually you'll develop enough infrastructure do enough science that you'll be able to build anything you want, including an Armoured Tank (which has 20k HP which is more than a fortified gate). It'll be a long while until you get vaccines and when you do they only last 12 days before you've got to have researched it again and then started producing another set. When you are mid to larger sized, e.g above 500 citizens, I suggest you start creating buildings that are decently sized. You can create your own and use just Wood or bricks if you are low on Metal (although the scrapyard helps). When creating a building you can add more levels (height) to it, so it can hold more people. E.g by the end I had a Hospital with a nursing capacity of 70 people. Rarely needed that much, but it's useful to have that capacity. Build small warehouses everywhere. It's like they have teleporters in them connecting them all together. As workers need to place stuff in or get stuff out 1 item at a time the walking distance matters. That said, you also want a decent sized warehouse or two. Earlier on you might want something capable of 5k items and later on more like 15-20k worth of storage. Most of your actual work will be micromanaging squads and Max/Min your Citizen tasks. Going and hunting down infected hordes, killing enemy groups before they kill your citizens and hopefully you'll have some level of walls before Swarms of infected come, otherwise you'll need to send your squads out (in cars) and meet the Swarm as they enter the map and then usually you'll do a leap frog maneuver as you have say 2 cars shooting and anther 2 cars retreating back, then tag team switching over. So hopefully there's some shooting and others tag teaming. Obviously put your better weapons on the Squads AK47's burn through ammo but are great and later on Sniper rifles give you lots of RANGE so you don't have to be leap frogging nearly as much. Usually I'd have 3 snipers and an AK47 in a squad by the end. Have a squad with a fast sports car for zipping around and protecting citizens who are under attack outside your defences. You can put up towers out where they are often travelling to if that helps. For some crucial parts of the game I was having my citizens be on building or scavenging tasks during the day then guard duty at night. The game auto-saves at 6am and 6pm each game day. My location was set to the tropics (the Philippines) and it was sunrise / sunset just around those times. With the zombies coming out at night (except for some powerful storms which means they can be roaming during the day). Although Enemy groups usually roam during the day. When you can start sending squads out to other map sections you'll find it's fairly basic. Usually whichever vehicle arrives will be under attack by zombies if there's any on that map tile. There were a couple of times I had to carefully ensure I had multiple squads arriving at pretty much the exact same time (which is hard as different car types have different speeds). The fortified Gates are really great. Lots of HP (over 10k), with 6 people who can guard them and shoot. They are really good. Unfortunately the Fortified Wall doesn't have nearly as much HP (only ~3.5k). I found that having a double gate system was really useful. I'd setup a gate then have an airlock like holding area that was big enough for me to put a couple of squads into, then the outer-gate. Walls between them. This stops a lot of the hordes and during Swarm attacks you can put your squads there and the walls nearby in order to defend really well. Eventually I built double fortified walls everywhere around my base. It's hard to do triple walls unless you have gates so your citizens can get through the outer layers and can build and later repair the inner walls. Food is something you'll obviously have to contend with and you'll want Vast Fields then some Barns to convert the Wheat into meat and fertilizer. You'll use the Fertilizer to make Fuel much faster and you'll need plenty of fuel for the cars. You'll need a cook house to convert the meat into meals and then a cannery that can be used to take some of the meals and put them in cans for longer term storage. For me it was a fairly steady state by the end, but obviously it's a struggle as you are growing the community. I found it basically impossible to get above 800 citizens. The birthrate should have been high but it just seemed to cap out and I couldn't get to 850 or anything like that. If I had citizens die then boom, more kids. But maybe I missed something. I certainly had the housing and everything else spare. Eventually I just ran out of things to do. After creating a Tank, Fuel truck and having a steady state economy and no more objectives, I'd pretty much Won, there's just no final end game. I didn't really notice any bugs or problems. The scrapyard and some other things like the shooting range were added during my playing and that helped a bunch. I recommend the game. But do note my gameplay sessions were usually hours long. I could easily play Cyberpunk 2077 for maybe 20-30mins at a time, but Infection Free Zone I'd play for 2-3 hours at a time. Final Map
