Hi everyone. This guide is intended mostly for new players. Since manual priorities are something that can be easily looked over for a new player to rim world, I thought id write up a quick guide to help new players understand how to set their colonists to do manual priorities over using the default option (since in my opinion its a lot better). So i hopped into an old save and took some pictures, and im ready to walk you through setting up your colonists priorities the right way. Having trouble getting colonist you wanted to plant your crops to actually plant your crops? Getting frustrated that your colonist who should be researching is busy flicking switches, hunting animals and cleaning dirt instead? I went through the same frustrations when i was a new player, so i completely understand. But the solution to all your problems are actually right under your nose, you probably just didnt see it was there. So take a break from the game real fast and come see what i'm talking about. I'll help you solve half your early game frustrations with a few simple tips and walk you through a few things that may not be as obvious as they should be. I promise its going to make your life out on the rim a lot easier and less frustrating :D Let's begin! NOTE: I set all my screen shots i used in this guide to private. So im unsure if the only reason im seeing the screen shots in the guide here is because they are my screenshots. If anyone does happen to come across this guide and you cant see the screen shots, let me know down below in the comments, and ill go change the privacy settings, so they will be visible to everyone :D The Problem... So, i like to watch twitch streamers play rimworld some times when im not playing myself. But I usually go watch people who are new to the game. Mostly so i can help them understand the game if i can, since Rimworld can be an intimidating game and as a new player, especially if you're not used to these kinds of games, can be extremely frustrating. And as such is the case as to why a good number of people who would other wise play, will put the game down, and then go write an angry review of the game because of their frustration. Now, the one consistent thing I've noticed for new players, both watching people play on twitch and looking through a number of the threads on the steam forums over the years ive played, is a lot of people get really upset at one common thing. Which is why their colonists will seem to not do the things they are clearly supposed to be doing according to their task list. And that alone is enough to make a new player rage quit. And especially so because, at first glance it would seem like, no matter what you do, your colonists just dont do what they should be doing and theres no way to fix the problem. But that's where i would like to hop in and say, there actually is a solution. It's just not a noticeable one, and most people actually miss it completely in their first couple of games since its not explained in the tutorial and actually noticing what you're looking for, in a game where there's already a lot going on within the UI, its very easy to not even notice. I know i didn't notice the option was there myself until my 4th or 5th run. So i thought i'd point it out for you guys here in this guide and show you exactly what you need to do, and what you need to do with it. The solution to making your colonists, for the most part, do the tasks you want them to is actually a little gem hidden away in the "work" tab. All you have to do is set their priorities from automatic to manual priorities. Fiddle around with the priorities themselves to suit your needs. and then you should be good to go. Though, theres some things a new player would need to know in order to use the manual priorities system correctly or else they may be frustrated again. And we will get into all of this in the very next section. The Solution So, lets get to the part every one who stops by here, is here for in the first place. What are we doing with manual priorities and where do I go to do it? So when you start a new game of rimworld, your colonists tasks are set to a default mode. Which will automatically check mark tasks each colonist has a decent enough skill in and mark those things to be done. Which isn't really optimal in a game like this. Is it easier to set up tasks that way? Sure it is, but its not going to give you the best outcomes and is more likely than not going to make things a lot more difficult for you to manage. So when you start a game. and you're finally at that point where you need to look through and set up colonist tasks. You're going to go down to your main tool bard down at the bottom of your screen and hit the tab that says "work". And, in a new game, you should see something that looks similar to this ...

Lets take a look once again at four eyes and see how i set up their priorities and how thats going to play out in the game. So, ill be honest. Four eyes, isnt the greatest. They have a burning passion in research and a passion in hunting and construction. Everything else is kind of meh. They do have some decent skill level in other categories but in comparision to the passion skills four eyes has, four eyes would learn those skills so much slower than their passions, that those things would almost not be worth doing for four eyes. However, if i really needed, i could still have four eyes do other things they have decent skill in. but id rather use other colonists with higher skills than four eyes in those areas or who have passions in those areas. its all about balancing here. So if we look at four eyes, and look at their hunting, construction and research tasks, four eyes actually out does all of my other colonists in those areas. so out of everyone, id rather have four eyes do those tasks, since four eyes can do them better and more effeciently, and would take a less amount of time over all to do those tasks than my other two colonists. So as much as id like four eyes to be my main researcher, they are going to have to also be my main hunter and builder. At least for now. That can change later in the game as i get more colonists through various ways. But, its perfectly okay for one colonist to specialize in multiple things. But i tend to give a colonist 3 specailties at the most. And as you can see both Norbert and renault have virtually no skill in construction or research, so its fitting i make four eyes prioritize those tasks the most. Renault does have some skill for hunting but it hardly compares to four eyes skill. But because hunting can be a time consuming and tedious task for one colonist to do, i decided to also put renault on a hunting task though ive given them a priority of 2 for hunting, since renault obviously has tasks their better suited for. So as much as I would like for four eyes to do research. I feel, that at the early game construction should definitely be the first priority over research. And later once most of my basic structures are up, I can just low the priority of construction to have four eyes prioritize researching. Hunting isnt always necessary in the beginning, especially if you play the crashlanded scenario. But i thought id put it as priority 1 here anyway, just in case i need to hunt, because at the end of the day, food will be more important if i need it over both construction and research. because a starving colonist wont be able to construct or research the way they could on a full belly anyway. So, hence I set four eyes with a priority of 1 on hunting, construction and research. So four eyes will always prioritize hunting if i have set anything to be hunted, And if not they will always build things that need to be built, and if i have no hunting or construction tasks available, four eyes will get to work on research. Now you may notice some tasks before hunting ive also set to priority 1. For four eyes those things being Firefight, paitenting, and bed rest. Now, in most playthroughs i do, i also set all colonists to do basic as a 1 priority as well. I was just testing something out in this run so i have everyones basic set to 2. But typically, I always set every single colonist to do firefight, paitenting, bed rest and basic as a 1 priority if they can do so. And the reason being if a fire breaks out in the home area, everyone that can firefight will drop what they're doing and go to extinguish it, if a colonist is severly injured or sick by prioritizing paitenting they'll immideately go look for a medical bed and await someone to tend their wounds, and with bed rest as 1 priority if they get sick with something theyll go lay down in bed to recover over doing most other things. And as i said, i typically set basic to 1 as well. because, once you start building certain things youll need colonists to go flick switches on stuff to turn things on and off as well as if you want to release a prisoner theyll go do that. I also have four eyes set to do hauling and cleaning as a 2 priority if theres nothing else to be done, because hauling and cleaning should always be done when possible, and i set art to 3 priority so in case foure eyes winds up having absolutely nothing to do, thats at least something. I typically never use the 4 priority because it just seems kind of useless, since if i set a colonists tasks between 1 and 3 anything left thats set at 4 may as well just be turned off all the way since it will more than likely never get done anyway. So hence the rest of four eyes tasks, in which four eyes could potentially do, have been turned off, since other colonists can do those jobs. And with that knowledge, Those are examples of why i set four eyes to the priorities i did and how they would work in game by doing so. Hope that helps clear a bit up and allows new players to understand how manual prioritizing works in rimworld. But before we end. And you could choose to end it here. I have some other side notes and tips to explore in a few last sections of this guide. Some Helpful Stuff

那两头死掉的 wargs(战狼),我已经确保殖民者不会吃它们的肉,只用来做 kibble(宠物饲料)。
