A rough estimate on how much you need to plant to feed all your beavers! What this guide do: I'm gonna tell you how many crops to plant and how I figured out that number. If you don't care about the numbers and just wanna know the answer, it's going to be the big bold number at the bottom, alright? If I get it wrong, and your beavers all starve, I take no responsibility and will NOT apologise for your mistake. I don't even know if this stuff is accurate. The Basics 1 beaver eats roughly 2.75 food items a day. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a 0.75 sized carrot, so to round up: 1 Beaver = 3 Food per Day Side note, Beavers also drink 3 Water droplets per day (Rounded up). I could tell you how many pumps you need per beaver, but I'm not going to. Folktails - Simple Crops Stuff what goes from soil to stomach. Carrots 1 Carrot plot grows 3 carrots in 4 days 3 per plot / 4 days = 0.75 a day per plot We'll round it down in a completely arbitrary fashion, because the crops aren't harvested immediately. 1 plot = 0.60 carrots per day 0.60 carrots / 3 (1 Hungry Beaver) = 0.20 days of food per plot 1 Beaver requires 5 carrot plots 10 Beavers require 50 carrot plots Sunflower Seeds 1 Sunflower plot grows 2 Sunflowers in 5 days 2 per plot/ 5 days = 0.40 per day (Inc labour = 0.30 per day) 0.30 per plot / 3 per person = 0.10 1 plot = 0.10 days of food 1 Beaver requires 10 sunflower plots 10 Beavers require 100 sunflower plots Folktails - Grilled Food Stuff what needs cooking. This requires wood too, but I'm not getting into that. Potato 1 potato plot grows 1 potato in 6 days 1 per plot / 6 days = 0.16 per (Inc labour = 0.10 per day) Now for the grill: 1 potato becomes 4 baked potatoes 0.10 per day X 4 cooked = 0.40 per day 0.40 per day / 3 per person = 0.13 (let's just round this back up to 0.15) 1 plot = 0.15 days of food 1 Beaver requires 7 potato plots 10 Beavers require 70 potato plots Spadderdock 3 per plot / 12 days = 0.25 per (Inc labour = 0.20 per day) 0.20 per X 3 cooked = 0.60 per day 0.60 per day / 3 per person = 0.20 1 plot = 0.20 days of food 1 Beaver requires 5 spadderdock plots 10 Beavers require 50 spadderdock plots Chestnut Chestnut trees need 24 days to grow. Thankfully, we planted them earlier so we don't have to care about that. 3 per tree / 8 days = 0.375 (Inc labour = 0.30 per day) 0.30 per X 2 cooked = 0.60 per day 0.60 per day / 3 per person = 0.20 1 tree = 0.20 days of food 1 Beaver requires 5 chestnut trees 10 Beavers require 50 chestnut trees Folktails - Baked Foods Foods what need milling at the gristmill and cooking at the baker. Greedy. Wheat 3 per plot / 10 days = 0.3 per day (Inc labour = 0.25 per day) Milling is a 1-to-1 transaction. That means we get to ignore it! 0.25 Flour x 5 Bread = 1.25 per day 1.25 per day / 3 per person = 0.416 (Round to 0.4) 1 plot = 0.4 days of food 1 Beaver requires 3 wheat plots 10 Beavers require 25 wheat plots Cattails 3 per plot / 8 days = 0.375 (Inc labour = 0.3 per day) 0.30 flour X 4 Crackers = 1.2 per day 1.20 per day / 3 per person = 0.4 1 plot = 0.4 days of food 1 Beaver requires 3 cattail plots 10 Beavers require 25 cattail plots Maple Pastry The final boss of Folktails' food. These things need two ingredients. Thankfully, you finished growing those maple trees before I wrote this guide, so you'll be fine. 3 maple syrup per tree / 12 days = 0.25 per (Inc labour = 0.2 per day) 0.2 X 3 = 0.6 1 tree = 0.6 days of syrup The pastry also needs wheat. 3 per plot / 10 days = 0.3 per day (Inc labour = 0.25 per day) 0.25 Flour x 2 pastry = 0.50 1 plot = 0.5 days of flour 0.6 syrup / 3 = 0.2 0.5 / 3 = 0.166 (Round to 0.15) 1 Beaver requires 7 wheat plots AND 5 maple trees 10 Beavers require 67 wheat plots AND 50 maple trees Folktails - Thoughts Carrots - Best starter food. Plant these first thing. Sunflower - These aren't really suitable as a main food crop. However, they give a nice +1 well-being bonus if you grow them, which is super useful in the early game. Plant a few alongside the carrots in your first farm. Potato - The main appeal is that they are easy to store. Raw potato is worth 4 cooked, so a large storage with 200 taters translates to 800 units of food! Also provides +2 well-being, so good for raising that early on. Chestnut - They are kind of annoying since they need a forester to plant and a gatherer to collect. Still, +2 well-being is +2 well-being. Spadderdock & Cattails - They're the water equivalent of potatoes and wheat. They're good, but are limited to shallow pools. You're smart, so you can figure out the issues there in a game about droughts. Wheat - The best food, only held back by the whole production chain thing. Flour is even better in storage than potatoes. 200 flour is 1000 units of food. Maple Pastry - Congrats on winning the game! Beehives - What the hell is a beehive? Iron Teeth? I might do it fohking later
