the pain of historic inspection, with some info you might need PURPOSE This guide was made to give you quick info on why you would fail historical inspection or what you NEED to pass for historic inspection with reasons and documentation. This guide doesn't contain images but links to the Fandom My Winter Car Wiki, Amistech's Rivett Dealer Sheet, and a good VIN decoder i use myself. I won't hold you any longer so just scroll down for the info you need. Good to know when reading the guide: ⚠️ - Most common failure (where people fail most) 🔧 - Technical issue, fixable (can be anything in the engine, suspension or interior if wrong colors) ✖️ - Instant fail if illegal or wrong for VIN (AFR Gauge, Extra Gauges or Rev limiter installed, or non-stock parts that include exhaust systems, camshafts, but not high perfomance fuel pumps or alternators.) the only legal Camshafts are Standard, Fast Road, and Road Sprint. keep that in mind when building your Rivett. ❔- Needs more documentation (if possible, add info in the comments, i check daily.) PRE-FACELIFT RIVETTS for Rivett's before 1974, these body parts for these specific trims will be needed for historic: L: -L Grille (pre-facelift) -4spd. Manual Gearbox always -13" STEEL wheels (nothing else) (A on VIN character 23rd, before last character in VIN) POLISH THE RIM TO PASS INSPECTION -clear windshield (no grille or heated window, just bare) -standard seats (no bucket seats), should match Tan interior color (basically beige, K in VIN character 16) -paint at fleetari to the factory color -Radio instrument panel with no tach or extra features -Rear Axle with Open axle and either a 3.75 or 3.89 axle ratio (BA or CA rear axle) -standard suspension (6.5inch 234LBs all 4 sides) -normal brakes -L bootlid (reads CORRIS, no ducktail spoiler or a black stripe) LX: -LX Grille (pre-facelift) -4spd. VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW!!1!! Historic inspection is a real pain the a$& but can be mitigated from these problems that have their fixes. these are from personal experience and reddit: A: MECHANICALS - 🔧 Engine: either some part failing in the engine, something not bolted in properly, or illegal parts (non-stock camshafts or 4brl. Race Carb.) - 🔧 Transmission: either the wrong speed gearbox (3spd. Automatic - 4spd. Manual is ALWAYS required for inspection, 5spd. manual is not for historic and won't pass, but WILL pass general inspection afaik) or the gearbox is failing, or the clutch cable is going bad, or the flywheel or clutch assembly is going to fail soon - ⚠️ 🔧 Drive Axle: wrong Drive Axle for VIN (check upper list for variations) -Suspension: Wrong coil springs or very worn out coil springs for specific VIN - ⚠️ 🔧 Brakes: either no brake fluid, incorrect master cylinder (Power brakes mounted instead of normal or vice versa), or even incorrect brake lines (one is for power brakes, other is for normal brakes). bull^*^% i know, but it's just ToplessGun being a little masochistic finnish dude - 🔧 Exhaust: either wrong Exhaust headers/manifolds for VIN, or a failing/worn out exhaust system/exhaust part in particular B: EXTERIOR: - ⚠️ 🔧 ✖️ Wheels: this is a wild one. for 13" Steel/14" Steel rims, you need the ones from the CLASSIFIEDS magazine. not from AMIS catalogue. the road-worthy ones have a more protruding spout/rim thingy that is going towards the exterior, not going into the interior. Check this carefully, as i fallen into this trap more than once. - ⚠️ 🔧 ✖️ Front Grille: Incorrect grille for VIN specifications. Important to note: L grille is for pre-facelift GT Rivett's, as mentioned above. LX and SLX grilles are pretty easy to spot in difference, same for facelift - ⚠️ 🔧 Body Panels: tricky one. could mean mismatched doors, wrong bootlid for VIN, busted up body panels (damaged, try to delete meshsave.txt with MWC open BUT in menu or repair at fleetari), or incorrect color/s for panels - 🔧 Windshield: Either you have a sunstrip or tinted windshield when you shouldn't, or didn't have a sunstrip or tinted windshield installed. i don't know where to apply them, but maybe at Fleetari or they come installed with the car when bought - 🔧 ❔ Rear Window: another tricky one. i didn't fail on this one so i don't know the reason for it yet. please comment under the guide if you know why someone would fail and i will update this section - ⚠️ 🔧 ✖️ Colors and Materials: wrong color for VIN, wrong Door for VIN, wrong Bootlid, basically any body panel that isn't VIN accurate C: INTERIOR: - 🔧 ✖️ Colors and materials: mismatched seats colors or wrong colors for VIN. for example, if you have a blue interior, all of your seats need to be blue including the back seats and backrest - 🔧 ✖️ Seats: wrong Seats style. Bucket when they shouldn't be or vice versa. - ⚠️ 🔧 ✖️ Instrument Panel: tricky. there are a total of 12 instrument panels, so if you have a tachometer with radio delete and NO heated window button, you need that exact instrument panel to pass. one of 12 examples - 🔧 Steering Wheel: either Stock for GT/SLX when GT steering wheel is specified. L and LX use the standard steering wheel which is Non-GT. SLX may have the option for either standard or GT steering wheel - 🔧 Gear Lever: GT requires the white gear knob with no numbers on it. if not put on correctly, try to scroll with your mouse wheel UP when the hand icon is prompted to tighten it. same goes for the standard 4-speed shifter. for 3-speed automatic shifter it requires 1x6mm bolt. - 🔧 ✖️ Radio: either you have a radio when you shouldn't have one or vice versa. - ❔ Trim Options: hard to know for sure. most likely it is when you have GT panels or stuff on SLX/LX/L or vice versa for every trim. not 100% sure, let me know if it's right or wrong D: OVERALL - ⚠️ 🔧 ✖️ General Appearance: you can fail if you didn't paint the right color for exterior, or have mismatched colors in interior for seats, or have AFR gauge and Rev Limiter installed (maybe, not sure) - ⚠️🔧✖️ Road Legal: if it failed in General Inspection, be prepared to fail here as well. fix the problems from general inspection, then come back. UNKNOWN STUFF Any new parts or systems added in the game that are currently unknown if they pass historical inspection or not are marked with 🛑. if they pass, they are noted with ✅, if they don't pass, they are noted with ❌.
