Tips for dealing with common story boss hang-ups. Intro This is a quick first early draft at the moment. General Advice First, I recommend reading the New Player FAQ section of my team building guide for general advice on what early IDs to angle for and how to approach collecting them: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3478844133 I cannot stress enough how much picking out even just a few top tier IDs will make your life easier. This isn't quite as simple as "newer IDs are automatically better due to power creep"--this is true on net but there are still many older IDs that keep up with modern ones. Ignore anyone telling you to build any kind of archetype team, you first and foremost need a full squad of excellent clashers. Status teams are not something you should be focusing on early. Second, unless you're actually flat broke or just really don't enjoy the game at all, get the premium season pass. $11 for several months' worth of content is a steal. See also: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3456404806 Basics Always have the IDs you're using at the maximum available level & at least Uptie 3. Underleveled IDs are weaker in all the conventional ways you would expect; they effectively lose final clash power and will be behind on attack and defense power. You have very limited room to skimp on this but you absolutely should assume you need to be at cap to proceed comfortably. Uptie 3 is required to unlock an ID's Skill 3. Most IDs won't hard require Uptie 4 to function, though it will typically be an additional major boost to an ID's effectiveness. This is where you can most afford not to push to maximize everything right away. This may require you to slow down and focus on EXP & Thread Luxcavation but just do it, you will save yourself a ton of difficulty this way. When in doubt read all of the enemy's skill descriptions. Boss fights in Limbus Company start braindead but eventually become mechanically complex and Dongbaek is your wakeup call to stop only clicking Winrate. Failing all the above, you can always bring a friend's support ID to help out. My friend ID is: W549587749 (Right now I just keep the beefy high tiers for each Sinner in my company but in the future/once this is more complete I'll probably keep some of the recommended IDs on tap.) A lot of boss difficulty can be deleted by a turn 1 Superbia => Fluid Sac Faust. Will give you a big head start on sanity, and try to clash with it to make it even more sanity neutral. You can maybe still cheese most of the game just by having a team that's set up to quickly fuel Fluid Sac. Important Advanced Concepts Manual targeting in focused battles gets more important as fights get more high-stakes. If you don't quite fully grasp how clashing works, definitely take the time to watch ESGOO's better and betterer tutorial videos. It's an okay shortcut to start your turn by selecting Winrate, but there's some important things to understand about how it works and how to tweak it before firing off your turn. It typically will go from left to right in speed order and enemy skill slots without actually optimizing for who clashes the best where. Often this may be fine, but you lose on some tactical advantages by eg not redirecting with lower speed skill slots for unopposed attacks earlier in the turn. A further example: if an enemy is close to staggering you can get an advantage by having the lowest available speed do the clashing and having unopposed attacks earlier in the turn that might knock the enemy past the threshold sooner. As such it won't try to match up clashes with enemy targets in cases where your speed isn't higher; basically, look for unopposed skill slots and try to set up clashes with those slots' targets--generally, and as a mechanical hold-over from Library of Ruina, a skill's default target can clash with it regardless of speed. Winrate will also full send every unopposed attack from your team to skill slots that are staggered, but usually this will be suboptimal for damage. You generally won't need 4 people targeting a staggered enemy with 15 HP. Defensive skills that activate follow through anything else that targets them the same turn after combat starts. This is less relevant for Guard (since it only ever activates to provide shield once) and Counter (which can only trigger once) but Evades will trigger on every subsequent coin flip until the Evade fails. Therefore, you want to Evade the earliest possible incoming attack if you're attempting to mitigate multiple attacks. You can also hedge your bets by setting up multiple Evades if you think you might need to. If you toggle the UI to only show one attack target at a time, it will flash the arrows in activation order throughout the turn and you can use this in planning to ensure a character trying to tank multiple attacks with an Evade has everything lined up correctly. You can actually Evade a triggered Counter, but it requires multiple skill slots and careful target ordering. 4-48: Dongbaek EGO Spicebrush Basics Dongbaek is often one of the first major skill checks. The skill being tested here is: are you reading the boss' skill descriptions? Keep in mind anyone with a higher speed than the skill slot can use a defensive skill to clash with Dongbaek's Evade to Offset and prevent it from activating. The penultimate phase is a 1-on-1 duel but it's telegraphed in the prior turn, whomever clashes with the skill that turn enters the duel so try to do so with your most able clasher. You must win every clash during the duel to secure the win. Cheese Strats A common piece of advice here since many players who will have gotten here quickly aren't likely to have even a full, fleshed-out, basic, all-rounder, high-clashing team is to run only the good IDs you have. By not running a full team, the characters you do bring will gain skill slots, one per turn rotating in deploy order, up to the normal team size maximum. This will force you to start weak but grow in power as turns progress since your weaker IDs won't be dragging the team down, and Dongbaek, like many bosses, will have a ramp up phase that helps facilitate this kind of strategy. However, careful management of the spicebrush debuff becomes more important. 5-30: Ricardo Basics During this fight Ishmael cannot die until she is the only remaining Sinner. Ricardo and his Middle minions both deal and are weak to Blunt damage. Middle enemies including Ricardo get more powerful from losing clashes, so if you need an edge you can bring a tank (especially Zwei Ishmael) to try to soak unopposed attacks while you stack most of your skills on one or a few enemy skill slots. Don't prioritize the adds in the last wave, Ricardo quickly summons more if you kill them. Cheese Strats One common recommendation is to solo with Zwei Ishmael. Another is to use a duo of any Ishmael with decent speed rolls and/or can tank--Zwei or Molar Ishmael (who has an insane base rolling 10 Evade and can very effectively tank even if she does manage to get hit) are recommended--plus another Sinner for big damage, ideally one with heavy Blunt damage, the common recommendation is N Corp Sinclair. Start stockpiling Skill 3s during the second wave. 7-36: Final Boss (Boss name omitted for spoiler reasons.) Basics For the final fight, any Don Quixote ID you select will be boosted to max level and uptie. Supports from friends are also unavailable for Don Quixote but you're given several default options instead: W Corp L3 Cleanup Agent Cinq Association South Section 5 Director The Middle Little Sister T Corp Class 3 Collection Staff Cheese Strats This fight goes from difficult to shockingly easy if you solo with literally any Don ID that has an Evade. I recommend East Cinq Don if you have her, else W Corp or South Cinq from the default supports will do and again, literally any with an Evade can do this fight no sweat.
