Side-stepping will be more important than rolling. Believe me. Nr. 2: If you know your enemy... In order to effectively side-step and leave your enemies in utter disbelieve how their perfectly aimed bullet just flew past you, you have to learn your enemies attack patterns. What attacks do they use? What trajectory do this bullets follow? Where are the gaps you can use to avoid being killed? A terrifying new enemy can be reduced to the danger level of a small puppy, as soon as you know how they fight. If you know your enemy and you know yourself, you will not need to fear the result of a hundred battles! Weapon empty, put weapon away, use other weapon, keep shooting, while the other gun reloads. Its not rocket science. Maybe if you use rocket launchers, but that is another story. Nr. 4: There are three types of weapons When entering the gungeon, you will find a lot of weapons. I mean, a lot. A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of weapons. You can't really imagine how many weapons there are. There are so many weapons that... okay, I stop already. Despite the huge amount of weapons, there are exactly three types of weapons. Useless weapons, floor-cleaning weapons and boss-killing weapons. Useless weapons are things like the Trashcannon, the pea shooter or the klobbe. Floor-cleaning weapons are for example the hegemony rifle, the standard weapons, the wind up gun and generally every gun with a good damage outpout and good magazine size. Usable over a longer period of time, while dispatching reasonably fast of most enemies. Boss-killing weapons are where the fun begins. Some floor-cleaning weapons might also qualify for killing bosses, but normally you want to bring the big guns for the big guys. Railguns, the AU-gun, Commando. Everything that deals a lot of damage and would be wasted on everything smaller than the biggest of the baddies. Small note: Gunther is the best weapon. Period. Nr. 5: Mimics. Mimics everywhere. Rule of thumb: If you find a chest, shoot it once with your standard gun. If it moves, kill it. If it stays still, shoot a second time. You never know. Just make sure not to break it. You don't want to be responsible for the death of a small, innocent chest. Unless it is a brown chest and you can't get anymore keys on that floor. Never waste keys on a brown chest. Never! On a different note: Any item that grants you access to all chests is good. Even the mimic tooth necklace. If you can get an Akey-47, get it. "Someone told a joke. We laughed, the barkeeper laughed, the table laughed, we killed the table. Good times." AG&D Addendum: Apparently mimics are now literally everywhere. The walls, the pedestal at the end of a boss fight, maybe even your shoe, who knows? Tread carefully, gungeoneers. Nr. 6: Try. Fail. Try again. If you die, do not despair. Just try again. And again. And again. And again. You get the idea. If it takes you five hours to beat the first floor for the first time, don't be disappointed in yourself. Be happy that you made it this far. The game is not meant to be easy and does not take you by the hand. While not being a Dark Souls, it if fairly challenging. But believe me. One day, the bullets will stop firing. One day, you will make it to floor 5 with ease just to die by falling down a pit you didn't saw because you were concentrating on dodging the bullets... on some days your own reflection seems to be mocking you... Anyway, cheer up, love! It will get better! You will get better! Now get your ass back down there and kill those f*ckers again! They shoot you, you shoot them. Don't ever let yourself be defeated! Nr. 7: Defense over offense To beat the gungeon it might be a good idea to stay alive until the end. As you all know, people die when they are killed. Always focus on your defense. Not getting hit is better than scoring hits. If you have to stop firing to concentrate on evading, do it. If you don't hit every shot, because you pay attention to not ending up as a macabre copy of swiss cheese, then so be it. Watch your character, be aware of enemy bullets and always remember: A good offense is based upon a stronger defense. There is no sense to defeat your foes in the shortest amount of time when you take dozens of hits during the fight. You are not a tank. You're a damage-dealer. Nr. 8: All your secrets are belong to us Blanks open secret rooms, hidden behind cracked walls. If you see a cracked wall, use a blank and be happy that you just found a treasure just to be devastated when its a brown chest with health in it plus more health...♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The fire place on the first floor can be extinguished using water and behind that you will find a hidden lever which opens a hidden room leading to a hidden floor. You need two keys to unlock the hidden floor. There you will find a crest, which you can put on the altar on floor 2 to open yet another hidden passage leading to another hidden floor. The weird room on floor 3 with the floating mine carts has invisble railways. Dodge-roll from cart to cart to cross the pit. And always remember, enemies can become friends, robots are living beings and hell awaits. Nr. 9: Be an a**hole Let your inner d*uchebag free! Embrace your a**hole-self! Kick helmets down the edge, just for the fun of it! Kick tables into pits, because nobody can tell you what to do (except this guide)! Shoot the shopkeeper! Use a lead potion to let the wallmonger kill himself! Endless possibilites! Nr. 10: More synergieeeeees AG&D Addendum: Have you ever picked up a gun and see a little blue arrow pop up? Worry not, dear citizen, you have just been blessed. With a synergy that is! See, when two weapons/items really love each other than sometimes a new, better weapon/item appears. That is called a synergy. AG&D boosted this fun little part of the game and made it more apparent which weapons/items boost each other. So, have fun, experiment a little and maybe even the smallest pea shooter can turn into something great.
