The definitive guide to the official Forgeborn lore. (More coming soon!) Introduction. Welcome to the world of Arcwire, home to the Forgeborn. This guide will help guide you (duh) through the continent and all the different Forgeborn you may meet on your long journey. Feel free to let me know if I should change anything or if you have a suggestion! ~AJ of the Mechadrax The Different Species Our story 10,000 years ago, when stardust fell upon the world, seeping into its core. This stardust, known as Dragofuel, was one of the most powerful substances in the world, as it was pure determination. This "determination" is what willed the metal out of the earth and the thunder from the sky, creating the first Forgeborn. This primitive race of Forgeborn quickly evolved something else-- the Mechadrax. This is the model of which every other Forgeborn evolved from. ____________________________________________________________ In this section I will explain all common information about the five different species of Forgeborn. Mechadrax - These Forgeborn are the oldest and most cunning of the all the different species. Equipped with blunt horns and tons of sharp teeth, compared to other types of Forgeborn these dragons have a mostly basic appearance, though do not be fooled, these dragons are quite powerful. They can breath a flammable gas into the air and then light it with fire breath, creating deadly bursts of flame, another well-known Mechadrax ability that some possess are "concussion beams" on their right wrist, there is a weapon hidden in plain sight, it is capable of knocking Forgeborn completely unconscious or even killing them. More info: -Usually live about 200-400 years old -Live mostly in the fields of Arcwire -The first species Steelmaw - This species of Forgeborn are very wise and are regarded as the strongest of all the Forgeborn due to sheer size, a grown Steelmaw is about double the size of a grown Mechadrax. Despite their giant proportions, these dragons are peaceful and have been dubbed the storytellers of the continent. Steelmaw look a lot like Mechadrax but have darker coloration and spiraled horns, they also posses a slightly weaker fire breath. More info: -Usually live 400-600 years old -Live mostly in the mountain peaks of northern Arcwire -The third species Electrowrym: Electrowrym are one of the youngest species of Forgeborn and posses many abilities that have to do with electronics. They can change the flow of electricity and even make themselves faster by supercharging themselves, some Electrowrym can even stun enemies with enough concentration. These dragons are usually unhostile, unless threatened that is, and try to stay out of armed conflict. More info: -Usually live 200-400 years old -These dragons are mostly nomadic, though many live in the energy crystal caves under the mountains of northern Arcwire -The fourth or fifth species Wavewing: These dragons are incredibly hostile and one of the three first species. They are solitary beings living within oceans, lakes, and rivers of Arcwire. But do not be fooled these dragons will quickly band together if engaged in armed conflict. Speaking of which, these dragons have a prowess in combat, and possess many abilities over water, allowing them to swim very fast and manipulate it as well. More info: -Usually live 100-500 years old (due to fighting many die young-- but they can live very long) -As said in the text above, these dragons love all bodies of water -The second species Leafscale: This species of Forgeborn are known for their peaceful ways and kindness. These dragons are one of the newest species and have slight control over plants and maybe even some over certain animals, though it is unsure if this is true. As of now no one knows much about this species as they all keep to themselves in the forests or live a nomadic life, traveling across the continent. More info: -??? -The largest forests all around the continent -The fourth or fifth species Geography/Important Places The continent of Arcwire is shaped like a giant crescent moon, or dragon claw, if you will. The twin points on either side face to the right. In the middle of the expanse of water between the two points lies a small volcanic island by the name of Blackstone. Surrounding the island are giant spikes that break the water's surface and jut out into the open sky like talons reaching for prey. Here the weather is always miserable and the waves have been known to reach 20 meters in height during the stormy season. Now for the island itself... Arcwire is a large continent, in the far north lie giant mountains that are said to have rose from the ground at the very beginning of time. The southern tip Arcwire is quite diverse, being the tip being covered by a vast desert known as the Beetle Desert, and the rest being made up of jungle and savannah. This very southern tip is almost lifeless with few full-time settlements there. In between the north and south tips lay vast expanses of forests, fields, swamps, and rolling hills. More dragons settle sown in this medium between the north and south than anywhere else on the continent. ____________________________________________________________ The continent of Arcwire is home to many, many important places, though the most important is Skynox, 'The Floating City'. Skynox is a safe haven for many. Untouched by war and conflict, it floats roughly one-hundred-fifty meters in the air. Forged of rock and steel, the base of the island is said to be an indestructible substructure. The island itself is covered in white stone houses with gold trims and luminescent blue lights. There's homes, shops, government buildings, shelters, hospitals, and about every else thing you need in this war-torn world. The island is located directly in the middle of Arcwire for accessibility. Now for one more important place, The Ruins of Arcwire's Past. You may be wondering, "What does that even mean? Why is the name so long--" It is the ruins of the old Mechadrax palace. Now stop asking questions. Roughly 6,000 years ago, the palace was sieged by the Wavewing army, after many days royal family and guard surrendered, but only after their son Goldsweep, supreme general of the royal army, had been killed. Upon leaving the palace for the first time in years, the entire royal family was killed instantly. They say the Wavewing mounted their heads on spikes and melted them into molten magma in forges across the continent. Now all the remains there is ruins, overgrown stone and metal walls. It servers as a reminder of a time of emperors and kings and queens, of a time where only those at the top had power. Traditions and Culture Forgeborn are traditionally and culturally rich, and there are so simply too many little things, I could probably make a whole guide on them alone! So I will sadly only be featuring a few of the most wide-spread practices. Silence of Steel: Once every year, fighting, sieging, and skirmishing is unheard of. On the day of the year the royal family was executed there is no conflict. Enemies have been said to help each other on this day, treating injured fighters and getting supplies for them as well. After all, no one really wants to fight. But then how would we stay determined? Remembrance: Forgeborn dying isn't uncommon. There is always a war to be fought or a battle to be won. But when a Forgeborn does die, they are remembered. They will have their core removed and it will be melted into something ceremonial, perhaps a sword or shield. Promise of Purpose: If every Forgeborn is connected by one thing, it's this. Due to our determination, we strongly believe that doing nothing is less than doing evil. To do nothing is to die. To do nothing is to be nothing. Dragons who abandon their purpose simply do not survive. Oath of Warfare: This event occurs the day after Silence of Steel. After a day of peace, a day of violence. On this day only the most potent weapons are used. It is said that thousands of Forgeborn are killed during the Oath of Warfare, the only ones not to fight are Leafscale, as even Electrowrym join the bloodbath. Aquatic Affinity: Strangely enough, many Forgeborn seem to have an affinity for fish and other aquatic creatures. Lots of Forgeborn pick up fishing later in life after retiring from combat. No dragon quite knows why this occurs, but feel free to think on it-- it has lead to many intriguing speculations over the years! The Nullrot The Nullrot... Where do I even start with this one? The Nullrot is a disease. Not like your common cold or flu, this thing, no-- monster, is capable of completely rid a dragon of determination. When a dragon is undetermined, it dies. Though this sickness takes it a step further. After being "claimed" by the Nullrot, the Forgeborn will decompose, rust and a strange glowing fungus take it over until nothing remains but a shell to be controlled by the Nullrot's fury. While infected, dragons become genocidal and murderous, killing anything in their way. We do not know the Nullrot's purpose or motives, though we believe it is all controlled by a single entity located in some faraway place. Here is some more info about the Nullrot so you know what to do when faced with it: - The Nullrot is faster in the dark - The Nullrot fears flashing lights - The Nullrot doesn't get tired or low on energy - The Nullrot cannon die of age or regular weaponry If you wish to have a better chance of survival stick with a group of sterile Forgeborn, protect each other. If someone is infected, kill them before the Nullrot takes them. There has never been a widespread Nullrot infection, though it is almost certain this will happen at some point. The Iron Wall The Iron Wall is the only reason we haven't had a continental problem with Nullrot before. As the name states, it's a giant iron wall. It's about three kilometers long and two meters thick. On the other side, a barren landscape. No grass grows, no animals roam. It's a wasteland of mushrooms that spread the disease. No one has ever returned from this wasteland known as "The Void" by many. Tales of Arcwire Steelmaw are responsible for many of the stories we hold close to our cores. In this section, we will have stories told word for word from a famous Steelmaw scribe Magentite. The Great War The Great War is a piece of fictional work made by an unknown author roughly two-thousand years ago. It tells of an alien race of bipedal robots called "Defendroids" and their conquest to attempt and overthrow Arcwire. They arrived from an odd ship in the sky named Numastar, the robotic soldiers destroyed anything (or anyone) in their path. In the original story, the Defendroid Empire is foiled when a group of every Forgeborn (besides the Leafscale) team up to put and end to Numastar and the rest of the Defendroids too. In some renditions of the story, Numastar itself is alive and sentient as any Forgeborn. Many dragons over the centuries have claimed to be the author, though, no one is sure who really is. More stories will be added as time goes on. Community Section/Credits Well... Did you like the guide? I can assure more is coming soon!
