This guide helps you identify the ghost much easier, when getting evidence is limited or impossible, it is detailed and focuses on factual information and will not go off track. Introduction – How to Identify Every Ghost Note: don't try memorise everything all at once, just learn as you play with the use of this guide This guide will help you recognise: Individual ghost abilities Ghost speed and sanity thresholds How it interacts with players and the environment Forced and optional evidence Audio and visual cues By observing carefully, tracking events, and using the journal effectively, you can determine the ghost type quickly and confidently. It will not tell you what evidence is require for each ghost, just check using the journal, this is so you know how to identify a ghost without having to use evidence. Even useful in lower difficulties when getting evidence is tricky or the ghost is not cooperating All this information is factual Banshee Can only use a female name and ghost model Hunts at 50% sanity, but hunt checks are based on the target’s sanity, not the team average Normal ghost speed is 1.7 m/s Has an increased chance to perform Singing Ghost Events Has a unique Banshee scream detectable with the Parabolic Microphone 33% chance when using the Parabolic Will only hunt its target unless the target is outside the investigation area If the target dies, a new target is immediately chosen Ghost events reduce sanity by 15% Normal ghost events reduce sanity by 10% Can move directly toward its target while in a DOTS state Has a 66% chance to roam to its target without producing EMF Dayan (NEW) Can only use a female ghost model and name Becomes faster when players are moving and slower when players are standing still Hunt sanity thresholds depend on distance and movement: 65% sanity if a player is near and moving 45% sanity if a player is near and standing still 50% sanity if players are further than 10 metres away Ghost speed changes based on distance and movement: 2.25 m/s when a player is within 10 metres and moving 1.2 m/s when a nearby player is standing still 1.7 m/s when players are further than 10 metres away Has line of sight speed-up only when more than 10 metres from any player LOS speed-up does not apply once within 10 metres Deogen Hunts at 40% sanity Speed changes dramatically based on distance: Very slow when near a player: 0.4 m/s Very fast when far from a player: 3.0 m/sYOU CANNOT HIDE FROM A DEOGEN It always knows the player’s location Has a 33% chance to produce a unique heavy breathing response through the Spirit Box when within 1 metre Spirit Box is a forced evidence for a Deogen Demon Has the ability to hunt at any sanity Normal ghost speed: 1.7 m/s Crucifixes are more effective against a Demon: Tier 1: 4.5 metres Tier 2: 6.0 metres Tier 3: 7.5 metres Smudge sticks prevent hunts for only 60 seconds Normal duration is 90 seconds Can begin another hunt after 20 seconds Normal cooldown is 25 seconds Gallu (NEW) A Gallu cycles through three distinct states: Normal State Speed: 1.7 m/s Hunt sanity: 50% No special traits The Gallu will enter its Enraged State if any of the following occur: Steps in salt Is incensed Uses a crucifix Enraged State Speed: 1.96 m/s Hunt sanity: 60% Crucifix range reduced by 2 metres Cannot disturb salt Enraged State lasts until the end of the hunt Weakened State Speed: 1.36 m/s Hunt sanity: 40% Crucifix range increased by 1 metre Can Disturbs salt State lasts until it steps in salt, is incensed, or uses a crucifix Goryo Hunts at 50% sanity Normal ghost speed: 1.7 m/s Cannot change its ghost room DOTS can only be seen through a video camera while the player is in a different room DOTS Projector is a Forced Evidence for a Goryo Rarely wanders away from its ghost room Interacts with DOTS more frequently than other ghosts Hantu Hunts at 50% sanity Speed is affected by temperature and breaker state: 2.7 m/s when it is snowing, the breaker is off, and it is in the ghost room 1.4 m/s when the breaker is on and the room is warm Has an increased chance to turn the breaker off Cannot turn the breaker on Shows visible freezing breath when the breaker is off Does not gain speed from line of sight Freezing Temperatures is a forced evidence for a Hantu Jinn Hunts at 50% sanity Normal speed: 1.7 m/s Never turns off the breaker Speed increases to 2.5 m/s if a player is 3 metres away, in line of sight, and the breaker is on Reduces nearby players’ sanity by -25% if the breaker is on while using an EMF Reader Leaves an EMF 2 or 5 at breaker Mare Hunts at: Lights OFF: 60% sanity Lights ON: 40% sanity Normal speed: 1.7 m/s Cannot turn on lights Can turn off lights immediately after they are switched on Effective within 5 metres of a player Has an increased chance of Light-Breaking Ghost Events Changes ghost room more often if the light is ON in the ghost room Mimic Mimics any ghost every 30–120 seconds Forced evidence: Ghost Orbs The Mimic will always have ghost orbs even though it is not a part of the 3 evidence, this is because it counts as a ghost ability and not an evidence so never rule out the Mimic if it is Ghost Orbs Copies speed and sanity for hunts from the currently mimicked ghost Moroi Hunts at 50% sanity Speed scales with average sanity: Higher sanity: 1.5 m/s Lower sanity: 2.25 m/s Can reach up to 3.71 m/s with continuous line of sight Can curse a player using: Spirit Box Parabolic Microphone Sound Recorder The curse causes passive sanity drain Incense delays hunts for 7 seconds Normal duration is 6 seconds Sanity pills remove the curse Forced evidence: Spirit Box Myling Hunts at 50% sanity Normal speed: 1.7 m/s Footsteps and vocal sounds cannot be heard beyond 12 metres Normal hearing range for ghosts is 20 metres More active on the Parabolic Microphone and Sound Recorder Obake Hunts at 50% sanity Normal speed: 1.7 m/s Has a 6.66% chance to change its ghost model on each blink during a hunt Has only a 75% chance to leave ultraviolet evidence Can leave unique fingerprints: A six-finger handprint instead of five fingers Two fingerprints instead of one on light switches, lamps, and TV remotes Five fingerprints instead of four on keyboards and prison cell doors Has the ability to reduce fingerprint duration by 50% Normal fingerprint duration is 2 minutes Forced evidence: Ultraviolet Obambo (NEW) Switches between Calm and Aggressive states: Calm State Hunts at 10% sanity Speed is 1.45 m/sAggressive State Hunts at 65% sanity Speed is 1.96 m/s State changes every 2 minutes Starts halfway through the Calm state after entering the building Oni Hunts at 50% sanity Normal speed: 1.7 m/s Blinks slower during hunts, making it highly visible Cannot perform the Airball Ghost Event Ghost events drain 20% sanity Normal ghost events drain 10% Performs ghost events more frequently Becomes more active when more players are nearby More likely to appear as a full ghost model during events Onryo Hunts at 60% sanity Hunt sanity is reduced to 40% when near lit candles Normal speed: 1.7 m/s Attempts a hunt after blowing out 3 candles Candles act as a crucifix within 4 metres Killing players increases the chance of a hunt after a candle is blown out The only ghost that can extinguish the same firelight twice within 20 seconds After 2 deaths, blowing out a candle causes a 100% chance to hunt Blowing out additional candles further increases the hunt chance Phantom Hunts at 50% sanity Normal speed: 1.7 m/s Blinks slower during hunts, making it appear almost invisible Does not appear in photos or video Exceptions include DOTS, translucent, and shadow forms Disappears immediately after a photo is taken, including during DOTS Randomly wanders toward a player and leaves EMF level 2 Players lose sanity at a rate of 0.5% per second while within heartbeat range Poltergeist Hunts at 50% sanity Normal speed: 1.7 m/s Can throw multiple objects at once, appearing as a small explosion of items Drains 2% sanity for each item thrown During hunts, throws an item every 0.5 seconds Item throws have higher velocity than other ghosts Explosion throw types include: Direct throw Levitate then throw Levitate then drop Levitate then throw directly at a player Raichu Hunts at 65% sanity when near active player electronics Hunts at 50% sanity when electronics are off Speed increases to 2.5 m/s when near active equipment Normal speed is 1.7 m/s Disrupts electronic equipment within 15 metres Normal disruption range is 10 metres Revenant Hunts at 50% sanity Normal speed is 1.0 m/s, making it the slowest ghost Speed increases to 3.0 m/s when a player is detected through: Voice Active electronic equipment Line of sight Once accelerated, it remains at that speed until reaching the player’s last known location Shade Hunts at 35% sanity Normal speed: 1.7 m/s Cannot perform Singing Ghost events Appears as a shadow during 66% of ghost events The only ghost that can appear as a Shadow Ghost on: Summoning Circle Music Box Monkey Paw events Will not hunt in the same room as a player Will not perform ghost events in the same room as a player Cannot perform ghost events at 100% sanity Avoids interactions that produce EMF 2, 3, or 5 in the same room as a player Includes writing, blowing out candles, and other interactions Will not blow out candles in the same room as a player during a hunt Spirit Hunts at 50% sanity Normal speed: 1.7 m/s Using incense increases hunt cooldown to 3 minutes Normal cooldown is 90 seconds Thaye Ages every 1–2 minutes if a player is in the same room Otherwise waits 30 seconds before attempting to age again shows age change when using a Ouija Board throughout the investigation Youngest State Hunts at 75% sanity Aggressive - more active Speed: 2.75 m/sOldest State Hunts at 15% sanity Hunts less frequently Speed: 1.0 m/s Does not gain speed from line of sight Twins Hunts at 50% sanity Speed depends on interaction range: Standard range (3 metres): 1.5 m/s Extended range (16 metres): 1.9 m/s Triggers from motion sensors, stepping on salt, and Spirit Box responses only occur at its physical location When the first ghost does an interaction, there is a chance for the second to do an interaction further away (~0.5 seconds delay between them) Wraith Hunts at 50% sanity Normal speed: 1.7 m/s Cannot step in salt Can teleport to a player giving a random EMF 2 or EMF 5 Walks back to ghost room afterward Not slowed by Tier 3 salt Yokai Hunts at: 80% sanity when talking in the same room as it 50% sanity normally Normal speed: 1.7 m/s Hearing distance is 2.5 metres and less during hunts Becomes more active when players talk near it Yurei Hunts at 50% sanity Normal speed: 1.7 m/s Can shut a door and reduce the sanity of nearby players by 15% if a door is in the same room Can touch a door twice Smudging it will trap it in its room for the duration of the incense (90 seconds) Only ghost that can interact with an exit door outside hunts and events (so can it interact with the exit/entrance door when it is not hunting) Can fully close or open doors Do not confuse with door slamming, which is done by all ghosts Yurei doors will not shake before closing Conclusion Keep track of ghost behaviours carefully. Timing, location, and player proximity often reveal the ghost type. Combine observations over multiple rounds if needed, as some things only appear under specific conditions or may take a while for the ghost to do them Always double-check with the journal to ensure your evidence matches the ghost before making your final identification.
