A very effective way from your very first login to your self sufficient town. Made in Summer 24 Introduction This Guide is written for everyone but specially for new players. Its thought for all Vanilla settings like 3 day seasons The Guide is not really detailed or long, but enough to get both feets on the ground. The tipps are even longer than the guide ^^ Discussion please here in the forum: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1129580/discussions/0/6655846466492491442/ Tipps If you hunt Buffed and your potions are still very high but you are overloaded, go to the next crossing and drop the meat and leather. After your hunt pick them up (same Season or it spoils) Same for mining Building a Storage next to the mines you work yourself is a good idea Building food storages strategically near Hunting areas is a good idea too (they teleport the meat to your village) Your mine is hard to navigate, just construct a Barrel or so in the crossing showing you for example the way out or Death ends Potions are nice but nothing compared to buff food. Since food spoils check the Alcoholics (plum wine) Walking through water will cool you down Walking through deep water will clean you Chop Trees not one by one, Chop one, look where it falls ind chop the next ones while the last still falls. Reduces the risk to be hit, and is faster If you have a low% Iron Axe, Chop only the trees (more damage) but harvest them with a Stone axe (always 2 hits, with all kinds of axes) If your carryweight is reached, dropping stuff can help, you can get your stuff from the ground at night when the merchants already sleep Spears are the best weapon for every Land Animal. Crossbows for Birds, Fishing spears for .... was it aliens, i cant remember NEVER throw a spear on a Backside of a animal, their backsides are armored. Best spot to hit is the neck (and then the face) Using buff food and Potions can spare you money (less hits with a Iron Pickaxe means less costs for pickaxes) Starting a game by the basics (Run around to loot and Hunt) and build buildings that are anyway independent from your Village (Storages at mines, Food storages near Hunting grounds) will allow you to make a very nice start savegame before you build your first house (Dont build to near to Wild animal spawns or the spawn will be blocked) Making fields too small make it a pain in the ass to swap the Crops, making them too big will reduce the effectivity of your Farmer (max 4 on a field) (Following number is more a rule of the tumb need more tests) 4 Farmer can manage a 4*16 aka 64 Plot field on one day with all 4 tasks (Harvest, Fertilize, Hoe, Seed) (its a bit more, but it depends much on the single case) Only job the NPC´s must be at the workplace is farming (not sure about caring for animals) all others are irrlevant, a mine worker from the other side of the map starts Working on his way, even if he never reach the mine (not that i would suggest to do such nonsense) If you recruit all NPC´s at the campfire and fire all unwanted you will get new ones next season to choose from. Firing some olds and replace them by new ones will delay the Pregnancy wave There is no reason to use anyting else than Iron tools as soon as you have enough money. If you calculate all in, selling Brass tools will make more money than Iron tools. You can use the Crates of the Workbuildings to keep your inventorys clean. For example i store my tree seeds in on Woodchopper Cabin, and Potions in a Other. Kitchen stuff like Flour and Dishes i store in the Kitchen Crate. This way the Storage list can be kept shorter You should have a WInter and a Summer outfit set. Spring and Autumn you can wear the summer outfit + Gloves and this furry neck thingy. Well since its weight you carry, less is more, so not the best tip if you use carryweight Dont stress yourself when you start your town, place down these "glowing placeholders" to be sure that everything can be placed as necessary. Its no fun to destroy dozends of Buildings Making money by buying ressources and selling the goods the 2 best things are * Buying ores and ingots to make Bronze Knifes * Buying milk and soured milk to make Cheese Make sure you have the 30% Trading skill Before you speak to a "!" NPC make a savegame, believe me, it really helps !!! The Donkey Stall need no worker, just check the food yourself from time to time ONLY ON MOSTLY EVEN TERRAIN you can place houses not only on some scarce spots Placing the Village wall first and then a path along it before you place your Houses along this path will make it look better and your house placement more straight (Depends surely on what you want to do, ) If you make a orchard i suggest to make every row a other kind of tree. Its much easyer to navigate inside if you have a row of pears and know to your right are apples and to your left plums Prefer males for important jobs, They dont get pregnant. Means contrary to the "feel right" decision prefer to put women in the Mine and Woodchopper cabins. If you focus in the very start in making some Wood reserves you will overcome the Preganancy wave far better than otherwise. Besides that it is far easyer to just chop a few trees and make firewood yourself than runnign arround and making far more complex jobs yourself. (farming, animal care,...) Buffs Before we start with the game itself here some info about buffs BUFFS DONT STACK !!!!! THEY OVERWRITE THE OLD ONE !!! So you need to take them in the right order There are 4 actions that make sense to use Buffs ScoutingCamoflage Potion (reduces the attack of Bears and Wolfes by 99%) Stamina Potion (more running less breating) HuntingBasic variant: Camoflage Potion + Stamina Potion + Strenght Potion The best variant Plum Wine (+150% Damage) follwed by Rye Beer (30Kg Carryweigh) followed by Cherry Juice (80% reduced Stamina Usage) followed by Anti Alkohol Potion followed by Camoflage Potion (has only half the Duration of the food, so you need two for the same timeframe) MiningBasic variant: Nightvision Potion + Stamina Potion + Strenght Potion The best variant (Nearly the same as for hunting) Plum Wine (+150% Damage) follwed by Rye Beer (30Kg Carryweigh) followed by Cherry Juice (80% reduced Stamina Usage) followed by Anti Alkohol Potion followed by Nightvision Potion (has only half the Duration of the food, so you need two for the same timeframe) BuildingBasic variant: Stamina Potion Best Variant: Cherry Juice Game settings The guide is written for vanilla game settings But here some info about some consequences of some settings Days per Season Less days - Harder to complete the field work - Harder to make the Tax Money - Harder to Produce stuff in the nights (specially on one day seasons to make Food by stretching the night since there is no way to put it in storage before it spoils) - Switching your clothes every day can be annoying + Trader restocks more often + Fields deliver more products Higher taxes - The available money at the traders will not adapt to high taxes, and there is a point you simply can not make enough money to pay the taxes (even with wares worth millions in your storage) And now the real gamechanger, carryweight Carryweight can only be active or inactive, but it is the most effective game setting. The carryweight will limit your income to rough 20% of what you could realize without. The Map Here the map with all locations this guide is about. And it shows all Wolves, Bears and Bisons 1-6 = Ruins to loot M1 and M2 = Mines O = Perfect place to make your first Orchard X= Trading Station i highly suggest to build a House, a Storage a Food Storage and a Blacksmith
