This also isn’t a significant hindrance. Once you have made good headway in your World Tour, you are likely hoping to reach the Information Age in every run anyway. The different-civilization requirement, also, is not strict. You can switch back and forth between the same two civilizations if you happen to have a favourite civilization, and there are some civilizations that make it incredibly easy to reach the Information Age. You just can’t rebirth to the same civilization you just played. 6. Should I Start My World Tour? If you have never reached Information Age, beginning your World Tour can seem daunting. You have likely encountered a few “walls” through your time with CivIdle, namely the Renaissance wall, “condo wall” (reaching Cold War), reaching Information Age, and then reaching Future. Many players begin their World Tours after they reach 400 EGPL, or Effective Great People Level. Others wait longer. Some even start earlier if they’re okay with being very patient the first few runs. This ultimately comes down to what your playstyle is. Are you an active player who likes to rebirth every day or two, or are you the sort to stay in a run for a week? Use this calculator[spectralshift.github.io] when you reach the peak of your science production. How long would it take you to reach the Information Age? Remember, to keep your Centre Pompidou alive, you only need to reach this era; you do not need to research a specific technology or reach Future. The second you select your Great People from researching the first technology in the Information Age, you are eligible to rebirth and move on. If pursuing your World Tour would only extend your usual run time by a day or so, it could be worth considering. Every civilization you complete speeds up the next run, and the effect of this is more pronounced the earlier you begin. If you tend to reach x5 to x10 for your production modifiers right now, Centre Pompidou will vastly accelerate your progress. The initial grind is outweighed by the benefits very quickly. 7. Frequently Asked Questions 1. Do I have to build Centre Pompidou every run? A: No. You only need to build it the first time while playing France. After that, Centre Pompidou will spawn in a random location on every map—just like natural wonders. 2. Can I build two Centre Pompidous? A: No. If you rebirth to France in the future, the Centre Pompidou that spawns at the beginning replaces the one you would ordinarily build after researching Software. 3. Do I need to research Software? A: Only to first unlock Centre Pompidou and then build it. After that, in all future runs, you only need to reach Information Age. Nanotechnology, Software, World Wide Web, and Financial Leverage are all eligible for honouring the conditions of the World Tour. 4. Can I repeat the same civilizations to increase the production bonus? A: No. Centre Pompidou operates much like a checklist. Once a civilization has been completed, it can no longer provide another bonus. Only unique completions count. 5. Can I move where Centre Pompidou spawns? A: No, you can’t. 6. I accidentally rebirthed to the same civilization! Is there an undo? A: CivIdle does keep some backup saves. If you’re quick, you may be able to reload from an earlier save, pre-rebirth. There is a pinned forum thread with instructions for this: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2181940/discussions/0/7260435610010445264/ 7. Is there a specific order that would be best to follow? A: You can go in any order you want, but if you’re starting at a lower EGPL, it would be prudent to start with the civilizations that are fastest to complete. When you begin your World Tour, you start with France completed. Rebirthing into Japan from there can be a quick way to double your bonus; Japan has a wonder called the Itsukushima Shrine that gives you a lump sum of science every time you research all the technologies of an era, enough for you to research the cheapest technology of the next era. England is an excellent choice after that. This civilization gets the British Museum wonder, which you can build and then convert into any other civilization-unique wonder you want. You could convert it into Japan’s Itsukushima Shrine, or if you’re worried about producing enough science to reach the Information Age in a timely manner, you could convert it into Germany’s Cologne Cathedral. The Cologne Cathedral grants you a one-time science bonus of the most expensive technology in your current era. It is also upgradable using faith, caravels, and knights. Each level for Cologne Cathedral grants a x1 production bonus to science-producing buildings (excepting clone labs). From there, Germany is the natural next choice due to the Cologne Cathedral wonder mentioned above, and then Brazil and India for their individual unique wonders (Cathedral of Brasilia and Itaipu Dam for Brazil; Ganges River and Red Fort for India). The differences are much slimmer between the remaining civilizations, so go through them as you wish. For those returning to CivIdle after a pause, Rome no longer has a consumption malus associated with the Alps, so the go-to recommendation to keep that civilization for last is no longer applicable.
